I heard on the news last night that a study has been done on Fosamax. Apparently, they found that (in some) people, it can cause heart probs, causing the heart to beat in an irregular manner. I already knew that the bisphosphonates cause a host of probs, including the heart thing, but now, it seems, they're starting to get serious about it. About time, too:mad:

I agree, possible side effects should be identified and researched and told to the consumer.

Monte-glad that you mentioned this. I also saw a local news piece on this about a week ago. I have been searching for more info, like an article I could link to ,but I haven't been able to find anything new. I did find some older articles that seemed to say something similar . What I heard, at least as far as I recall, was that heart arrhythmia's were found to be significantly higher among those using a bisphos. Apparently this was research done at the Univ. of Washington. The news program said if people have heart arrhytmia issues they should talk to their drs. about other possible treatments for osteoporosis. Well, what would these other possible treatments be?

This doesn't surprise me about Fosamax. I'm glad I stopped taking it after 3 mos.
