i started having migraines when i was 6 years old, it's now almost 30 years later and i'm still having them. in addition to the migraines i get what i call "regular" headaches every day. yes, EVERY day. i've been having those for at least 15 years. my neurologist does an MRI with and without contrast every 6 months and nothing out of the ordinary has shown up. every blood test that can be run has been run, several times, and nothing is out of the ordinary. the headaches and/or migraines don't come at specific times, it happens any time. the main problem with the migraines though is that i don't know exactly when it starts because i wake up with them, or the migraine wakes me up. so medication that has to be taken at onset won't work for me because i'm asleep during the onset. i tried neurontin, that only made me gain 40 pounds. topamax turned me into a hallucinating zombie, immitrex was useless, i'm allergic to codeine and i'm scared to take anything narcotic for fear of becoming addicted. there has to be something out there that can help me without making me insane or blow up like a balloon. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know. i can't live like this anymore.
