Hi, all, I'm new here and I'd like to ask you how you got through this.
I went to the ER with extreme pain under my ribs and right side. CT scan showed large mass on right ovary and my uterus is enlarged. I go to my ultrasound appointment in the morning. Im so scared it's cancer. The pain is incredible! I actually thought my appendix had burst or something along that line. Anyway, I've been having problems for a long time, my stomach is always bloated, like Im full. I can hardly bend over, it feels like I cant breathe when I do. Ive just thought it was gas or stomach problems. But the past month the pain has gotten worse, until the past 2 weeks, it was unbearable. I probably should have seen the doctor sooner, but I hate going to the doctor! Anyway, Im just really scared right now!

I'm sorry you're having to go through this. I know how scary it can be. I just went through something similiar when a 4-cm solid tumor was found on my left ovary. I was having all of the symptoms of ovarian cancer, and had even lost 25 lbs. in three months without dieting. I was very frightened, but my doctor, who is a gyn/oncologist, didn't seem concerned.

I had surgery in December to remove the tumor, which was benign, as almost all cysts and ovarian tumors are (ovarian cancer is actually pretty rare.)

Hi just wanted to say that everyone on here will be thinking of you. It is a very scary time.
I had a 12cm x 7cm x 5cm ovarian cyst. They were not sure what it was and wanted to remove it, while i was 20 weeks pregnant. Which they did, and it turned our a cyst full of fluid.
I get many of them, and they do cause your stomach to bloat, and cramp.
No matter what the result we are all here.

My suggestion right now is to take some deep breaths. Then start writing out some questions (I do it in Word and flip back and forth from what I'm reading to my questions and back again). I also suggest you stick with medical information pages (Mayo clinic, CDC, etc). There are a lot of scary tales out there. I am becoming quite picky about what I read. I've read some things that have freaked me out.

I totally agree with the advice these other ladies are giving you. As difficult as it seems at the moment, try not to freak out over something that may turn out to be harmless. An enlarged uterus is most commonly due to uterine fibroids (benign tumours which are present in 20-50% of all women). As to the mass on your ovary, most ovarian cysts, even solid ones, are benign. Keep in mind that if the cyst is solid, you may have to undergo a laparoscopy (a day surgery with a very short recovery time) in order to remove it. I personally know at least three people who have had large complex cysts which turned out to be benign. As one lady said, ovarian cancer is extremely rare (1 in 80 women) and symptomatic benign cysts mimic cancer symptoms (which doesn't help matters).

Sit down at the computer and write down a few of the most important questions that are of concern to you and that you wish to discuss with your doctor. You may also wish to have a copy of the radiology report which actually describes your ovarian mass. Usually the way a cyst looks on an ultrasound says a lot.

Try to hang in there as best you can. If you can somehow keep your mind occupied by doing something that you enjoy, while you are awaiting your appointment, this would help a lot.
