I'm 54 years old. In 2004 I had a lens implant after cataract surgery. I had pretty good vision at first by after 4 years it has deteriorated. In general, is it risky to replace a lens implant or is it considered a "routine" procedure?

Removal of the IOL is not advised. Look up YAG laser procedure. It is quite common for the sack containing the IOL to become cloudy some time after cataract surgery. I think the figure is 40% of patients. The laser opens a hole in the membrane and should clear up vision. This procedure is common.
