Mark1e, please see below the post you answered to me in the last few weeks. The switch to Novilin was very easy and my #'s are usually in the 130-150's in the AM and the 100-140's in the PM [better than Novalog #'s]. I seem to be having a problem about 10:30 AM. I eat carbs at 7:30-8AM and by 9:30-10:30 there are days I cannot function. So sleepy and unfocused. Brought the meter today. 270 at 10:45.
Any suggestions. [this is what I felt like before insulin, so I am assumming that the #'s are going to high for me] Is this the difference of Novalog and Novalin and the timing? I would like your input before I call the Doc, {he is sometimes clueless}. Thanks, bonnie

and your answer
The difference between Novolog70/30 and Novalin 70/30 is that the novalin is 30% Regular instead of Novolog. Regular acts for 2-4 hours longer than Novolog, but much of that time is added on at the end of the action period. Regular should be injected about 45 minutes before meals. I inject it as soon as I get up in the morning, before I shower and get dressed.
