View Full Version : Recent Loss

I lost my husband a little over 4 weeks ago. It was due to a sudden death. I guess what scares me the most is the read the posts here and see people that have lost loved ones a year ago on more, and are still feeling such grief.

I am barely functioning right now, and I have a young child to care for. So I force myself every day to get up and do it.

Does anyone have any advice? I have heard that you don't even want to start a bereavement group until 4 months. It's like this horrible waiting game, where I just sit here and grieve daily.

Hi Grace, I haven't lost my husband, but I lost my daughter on the 5 of April...almost 4 weeks ago, from SIDS. She was five weeks old. They say that losing your spouse or your child are the hardest things to go through, so while I can't relate completely, I can relate some. I'm sorry for your loss...I too am struggling horribly to function. I also have three other small children, they are the reason I wake up each day. I'm not sure about the four month waiting game...but if you feel you would benefit, I'd give it a shot when ever your ready. The only thing we can really do Grace, is just take things minute by minute. And if that gets to be too much, as it sometimes does for me, then take it second by second.
Good luck Grace, I hope you find some relief with time. (((hugs)))
Amber
