I just read on a thread that its dangerous? should i throw mine out and buy glass? my baby is 10 weeks today and has been using plastic bottles from the start

Born Free and Playtex Drop Ins make a BPA free plastic if you don't want to buy glass. I just found out that Dr. Brown has a new BPA free line.

i use both born free and dr browns- ill check to see if the dr browns i use is BPA free..i guess thats why my born free bottles have a weird color to itthanks

I have thrown mine all away and bought Born free bottles. At first i considered glass though i am hoping he ll start holding his bottle soon so in that case plastic will be safer.

Another reason I wanted plastic was so it would be easier for her to hold soon. When do they usually start holding their own bottles? Do they only do that with juice, or formula too? I only ask because when drinking formula, Taylor tends to gulp and sometimes choke a little, so I have to watch her pretty closely when she is drinking still =(

This is something that has been repeated for years about plastic and the leaching of chemicals, it's really nothing new. I have used plastic Avent bottles for all my children. When this blew up again on the news, I wasn't as worried as most. Mainly b/c I'm lazy and never ever heat my bottles ever. I use tap water and powder formula. I hand wash them as well, so they are never heated. I tried the Born Free Glass bottles when they first came out, but when my son ended up with a black eye from dropping it on his face, that ended quickly. If you want to really freak yourself out, check out all the plastic that everything else comes in. Juice, food ect.. is all encased in the same type of plastic that you find in bottles, so just changing your bottles won't make too much of a difference. My SIL went nuts and threw out all her baby food and juice. I think she threw away at least $200.00 worth of food!

I was using the Playtex Ventaire Bottles (small size) and when the BPA scare came out on the news, I began to hand wash them and I never heated the bottle anyway. So, like the other poster, I didn't worry too much about it. But, I wanted to get some larger bottles and purchased Dr Brown's BPA Free bottles a couple of days ago. They had them in Babies R Us and they are kinda frosted looking.

There is always something new to worry about.
