Hey Paul,

I would go see a doc to give you something to relax you for your panic attacks..Take it one day at a time!!I was also told I needed braces, and move my teeth, ect.. havent done anything yet and living with terrible headaches and sinus pain everyday. At least you are trying and doing the best you can.Go back to the dentist & see about other options.. I think I will be thinking about surgery. I know 2 people at work got it done and all their pain is gone. I have panic attacks too.I have learned to settle them down by thinking of the things that make me laugh/ happy. for me, its my puppy, or friends..
I hope this helps somewhat!!

Think of your future pain free.. It will happen..

hi paul , i have been toooo see 4 diffrent ortho since i have tmd and my bite is sooooooooooo of however i have learned that before going into braces you must have a comfortable rest your jaw that is, some otho dont know what they are doing you need to get a second and third opinion.... do you live in CT ??????

where do yo live ??????????????

try ice and then heat on the jaw to relax the muscle a little, this helps me

Paul, second, third and even fourth opinions are not a bad idea. The doctors you could consider looking into are: another TMJ dentist, another Ortho, a Chiropractor (sometimes they can look at the overall picture and find what the source of the problem is beyond just the TMJ/TMD issue. find one who practices natural therapies as well, they will be able to see where you're out of alignment and not just do major manipulations to treat it. ask also if they know of a good dentist or ortho who could help you with your issue.)

You may need to just start over again and try and uncover all the layers of pain and where it's coming from. To do that it's good to ask around, find out what different doctors approaches are and ask them to recommend the right people to see. Try one thing at a time and work it backward by relieving your muscle pain, by going to PT, massage, or cranial sacral therapy. All of these methods can help in keeping your neck and jaw muscles from spasming, which is where the pain comes in.

And remember, this isn't cancer, heart disease or any of that which is causing your pain. It's just a joint and muscle issue. It's difficult to get through and debilitating, but with the right help, you'll be able to get through it and go on with your life. It's not worth giving up anything over.

Paul, I'm sorry for your suffering. I wore braces to correct an anterior open bite, but that was after I had gotten rid of the pain with the splint I wore for several months. I still wear a splint when I go to bed b/c I grind my teeth at night. Have you tried taking muscle relaxers? Flexeril is a good one. Acupuncture has helped me too. I would also suggest going to other dentists for 2nd, 3rd opinions. I hope you find the pain relief you deserve. Sue
