Has anyone here tried monolaurin? I just got off the phone with a very old friend of mine who is an acupuncturist. I was asking about herpes remedies and he told me he has had genital herpes for years. He said the one thing that has just been by far the best was monolaurin. He said since taking it he has not had an outbreak once (about a year and a half)and then wen he went off of for a few months and started to feel one, he started taking it and never had an outbreak.

Any experience please respond.

Is this a natural medication I am interested.....Write back where can you buy it??

Be weary of substances that attack viruses in vitro, they often do that, but will not attack the virus outside of that controlled environment. Many, if not most, of the so-called miracle-drug type of remedies that are sold, particularly online, that kills viruses of all sorts, do so in vitro. Notice the big bucks associated with most of them, too.

In my opinion, we are better off either spending our $ on drugs like Acyclovir and Valtrex if we can get them, or, if not, on vitamins (particularly Vitamin C) to boost the immune system, fresh fruits and veggies, and meditation and/or relaxation. Looking through a natural remedy text, seems that even Lysine (1 g 3 times a day) along with Vitamin C and lemon balm for lesions would be a better bet than Monolaurin any day...and a lot cheaper.

Reading The Truth About Herpes (by Dr. Stephen Sacks) and Intuitive Healing (by Dr. Judith Orloff) have convinced me that healing can also be a thing of the mind, as well as from a drug...though they often have to go hand in hand. And, as I know, and as Dr. Orloff points out, medical doctors don't always know how to treat a patient, but patients still need to be very careful of seeking expensive miracle cures that take advantage of a person's pain and vulnerability. I went through the oil of oregano period and I finally realized that it was too expensive for the result I was getting.

Monolaurin I believe is closely related to Lauric acid which is found in coconuts. I haven't tried monolaurin but cocnut is effective. eating coconut. they recommend half a one a day or 3 (i think) tablespoons of coconut oil.
I have been drinking coconut cream based drinks (eg milkshakes) 4 or 5 times a week for the last six months. This has reduced frequency and length of herpes outbreaks very significantly. When I do get outbreaks I use a coconut oil w basil applied to the skin.
For me it has so far been the answer to the problem. I would like more people to know about coconut.

That seems odd.......isn't coconut high in argenine? hhhmmmmmmmmmm..........
