View Full Version : It's been a long weekend

I'm sitting here watching my sweet DH sleep, finally after many many hours of restlessness and LOTS of thorazine. It appears he's experiencing terminal restlessness and the end might be sooner that later. I thought I was prepared but are we ever? My wonderful sister Susie, who's a hospice social worker from Chicago has been with me since Friday after noon and I don't know what I would've done without her...she's a Godsend. I had to call my two sons and let them know what's been happening and that was so hard and quite frankly, this all seems so surreal. Keep us in your prayers...talk to you soon.

Love Janie

My prayers and thoughts are with you, Janie. I cannot imagine what it will be like when I face this with dad.

Hang in there, and know that we are all with you in spirit.

My thoughts and prayers are with you also Janie. You are right, as ready as we think we are we are never really ready.... but we do what we have to do. Be thankful for special sisters. Hopefully you will get some much needed rest tonight.

Having just gone through this with both of my parents last fall, you have sympathy. It's not easy and nothing you can do prepares you to lose your loved one. Even though you know that it is for the best, it feels like you are having your heart ripped out.

May your hubbies guardian angels grant him peace and give you peace and healing. May his death bring you all release and healing.

My prayers are with you.

No matter how long it takes, you can never be ready in your heart, even when your mind tells you it will bring your DH relief. May his angels take him quietly, in God's time. Hugs and prayers for you both.

Thank you all for the wonderful love and support. I went to the funeral home today to make arrangements for my DH and it took a bit of a toll. They were wonderful and I just didn't want to have to deal with that at the end along with everything else. Family & friends have been coming over to spend some time with us, bringing food and a cleaning lady to clean my house! We have finally fallen into a routine with meds and bathing etc and if feels like we've been doing this for a long time and it feels natural. Thank God for Hospice and the amazing people who give not only their time & energy but their love as well. My home is a peaceful place with friends and grandchildren filing through on a daily basis and I am at peace.

Love to you all,
Janie

Janie - I wish I could add something that would help. I'm so glad you have the support of family and Hospice. (I believe the Hospice workers are angels, based on my experience with a hospice facility when my Mom was passing.) Hugs & a prayer for you and your DH.

Janie,
Your hubbies Guardian angels are preparing you and your family for the end. This is the way I felt when Mamma was passing. They are waiting with him until your hubby feels that you are ready to let him go. Then he will let them take him home. All in good time my dear.

Peace and blessing to you.
