I have had tinnitus for 2.5 years now that started with a stuffy right ear that lasted for 4 weeks. The T and stuffiness went away then came back after a couple weeks and has been with me ever since.

Fast forward to Feb 11th of this year (2008). I started getting a cold and my ears stuffed up. I could not pop the left one except maybe once every couple days. I could still pop the right one but it had a funny fluid feeling in it. After about a week of that It started clearing up and I could pop the left one fine again and it went back to normal but the left one still had that stuffy feeling in it. I started Amoxacillin and after another week it cleared up and they were both pretty much back to normal. The next week was fine and then I went on vacation to the caribbean for a week. When I got home though the right ear started to get that stuffy feeling in it again, that was March 9th. Ever since then I have had this stuffy feeling and its really driving me nuts!!!!!!!! I have been to my doc and my TMJ specialist. My doc said my ears look fine, no was or infection and the TMJ doc thought it may be temporal tendonitis so I had some sarapin injections but that was 4 days ago and still stuffy. I have had hearing tests and they were even better then normal hearing and no difference from ones I have had without the stuffy feeling so its not that I cant hear well out of it its just like a sensation that it stuffed up. I can really notice when I hum or when I talk more than I can from outside sounds. I have been on Zyrtec-D and Flonase for about a month now with not much improvment.

Please, have any of you had a similar problem with a solution or some suggestions for me to follow up on with my doctor. My doc is very good and willing to try different things to help me out. Thanks for you time!

I have had the same problem now for 11 months with no relief. I first went to my family Dr. They cleaned my ears and said I had some pressure and put me on nasonex and some other drug. After a month of no relief I went back. Again more meds and no good. Finally referred me to an ENT who determined there was nothing wrong. Ordered a CAT Scan and MRI and both normal. Sent me to an audiologist who said my hearing in my l ear was a little diminished. I feel I hear fine but it feels like I have water in my ear and it won't unplug. I actually know when it happened. June 12 while I was doing dinner dishes I felt me l ear plug up.

The audiologist sent me to an oral surgeon who fitted me with a night guard, put me on a muscle relaxor and something else. Gave me some excerises to do and to apply hot and cold packs to my jaw. Did this for a month with no relief. I am trying everything that I have read posted here. So far nothing!

I went back to the audiologist for 6 month checkup. Did all the tests again and said I have more hearing loss in my l ear and also fluid in the middle ear. Sent me back to the ENT who started treasting me for Cochlear Hydrops. Said if the meds clear it up that is what I have. If not then that is not either. So far, no go!

Do you have any of these other symptoms I have? Vibration in the affected ear when you talk. Other voices sound normal but yours sounds distorted. You hear your voice inside your head instead of on the outside. Do places like restaurants where there is alot of background noise bother you? The reason because you have to talk louder and loud talking makes the vibration louder. When I tap my teeth together it is like I have a microphone to my teeth. This is insane and as much as I want my life to go back to normal I think I am at a point that I am accepting this. It is not knowing why and what it is and will it ever go away that is driving me nuts! there are so many people who seem to be bothered with this and yet the Drs have no answers. They all want to treat us for allergies. :(
