My DD is 16 months old and both she and I are ready to pierce her ears.
(She loves "wearing" my earrings... such as girly-girl.)
I'd like to know where I should get it done? My pediatrician doesn't do it. Do I take her to a Claire's Boutique type of place or is there something better for babies?
Any experiences to share on baby ear piercing at all?

Yikes. I hate to see baby's that young with pierced ears. That being said.... it sure is cute when they have the little diamond studs in. :) I would not take her to Claires to get it done. An adult getting it done there is fine, but not a child. It's usually "young" girls that work there. Yeah, they've been trained but it's not as safe as if you went to a dr. Since her dr doesn't do it, I would ask if he/she knows of a dr who does do it. Otherwise, a salon would be your next best bet.

Thanks for the input. I started looking it up more online and agree that maybe Claire's isn't the best place. I'll ask around for a pediatrician to do it.
Also, I'm thinking of waiting a little longer since I'm concerned she'll play or pull on her ears and it could cause an infection or worse.
My DH wanted her to have it done when she was 3 month old, but I wanted to wait. He's still pushing for her to have it done and now it seems my DD loves playing around with earrings, but we'll see.

I'm expecting a girl in July and I've tossed around the idea myself. But I think I've come to the decision that it's a "right of passage" and it's something I can take her to do when she's 7 or 8 and will remember our Mommy/daughter moment ;)

i had my ears pierced young probably 3 years old, i went to claire's and everything turned out fine, you could ask your doctor if there are any places that are good for young babies to be pierced at.

If you plan to have it done using a piercing gun, please research the dangers of the piercing guns before you do it.
