... what would you ask in my situation?

My PCP sent me for a abdomen/CT Scan lloking for colon issues. None were fund, but the radiologist found a cyst on my right ovary that he wants to f/u on in 3 months. I actually tend to under-react to these things, so I want to be sure I'm asking the "right" questions. Other sx include wonky periods (getting shorter and shorter and I bleed for 7-10 days each time), weight gain even though I'm eating the same, bloating, cramping...

Would you wait 3 months to follow up with a sono? And what should I ask about the current CT and the sono?

I'm so lost and appreciate the help.

Hello,

They probably just want to watch the cyst. Believe it or not, women produce cysts every month usually on the ovary that ovulated that month. They usually just burst and the fluid is reabsorbed but some can hang out for a cycle or two. Its probably that when they did the u/s, they just happened to catch you at the right (or wrong) time. The Dr. will take another look in a few months to make sure that it went away. If not, sometimes they wait & watch and other times they try birth control pills (hormones) to address it. A cyst is a fluid filled growth...different from a mass or tumor which is solid and appears distinct on u/s so I'm confident the radiologist didn't confuse the two.

As for the other symptoms (bloating, cramping etc.), you may want to check with a gastroenterologist (could be IBS). They'll ask about your bowel movements (color, frequency, shape i.e pencil stools etc.), presence of blood in stool etc. You may want to hop over to the gastro board as well.

Hope this helps.
