Hope someone can help or shed some light.

All my life I feel that i have never fitted into more situations especially with work and social life. Apart from a set of a few staunch friends i have never been a person that someone will come over for a chat or give me a call to see hows things are going.

I've always been one of those people that starts conversations, sends text messages or arranges thing to get people going. It's not like people say "Hey how's it going" spontaneous.

I've always had this ever since school so for 20 years. In a new situation like work or social I always start off well and people interact with me normally but after a few weeks this sort of drops off and I kind of get ignored and not involved in conversations.

I don't think i am boring and i am reasonsably good looking but i think people just don't interact with me because they don't think its worth the effort or i can't provide anything for them.

Its really frustrating as I sometimes think is it one thing I am doing wrong or giving out the wrong vibe where people lose interest in me.

I think its because I've never really had good role models for social interaction. Is there anything that people might think i am doing wrong or how to improve things.

The thing with social interaction is that the more we participate in it the better we get. Try joining a group or volunteering somewhere where people share common interests with you and see how that goes.

A therapist might be handy to clear the water so to speak as maybe your interaction is fine it is just a matter of perception.
