Hey guys if you have been diagnosed with bi-polar but more lows than highs what do you think about the lamictal/seroquel combo? Seroquel sleepy side effect is still no better.Taking lamictal in the mornings. Would love to hear yall's thoughts on this combo.
Thanks a bunch!!

I hate seroquel. I only have it for when I am sinking into a psychosis and my husband knows to give it to me because I need it. I will not take it by choice. The lamictal is helpful for me. I am on 600 mg. a day (300 am and pm) and it has kept the major lows away for a few months now. It isn't doing wonders right now, but it had been working.

That is what I take, and I mostly had issues with depression. The lamictal has literally saved my life. The seroquel is more recent for me, but seems to be clearing up my sleep problems, and as a bonus has put an end to my chronic migraines.
If the combination is working for you, I don't see any reason not to take it. If the seroquel makes you too sleepy, talk to your doctor, there are lots of other choices.

That's what I'm taking along with Zoloft 50mg, and Topomax 100mg, I'm on Seroquel 450mg and Lamictal 50mg. The Seroquel helps me with insomnia as well. I'm having some trouble adjusting to the Lamictal, but am determined to keep going, as so many have had good results against depression with Lamictal.

Hi,
I know a few people who usually do fine on just Lamictal, and maby Abilify, too. They use the Seroquel prn to bring them down from a manic espisode.
You might ask your pdoc about doing this. Seroquel can be a tough drug for some, but it does definitely work for breaking a mania.
As your pdoc what else he can give you in place of the Seroquel. or it you just use it prn.
Good luck, keep up posted,

Seaturtle is right. I am one of those people who take lamictal and abilify and do fine. :)
But I have also been on seroqel twice. Both times I was manic and it did bring me down and get me some sleep. This was before I was on abilify however. But I LOVED the way it helped me sleep. I was tired during the day at first but that went away. Not sure why I got off of it. I think they changed my meds when I was in the hospital. You know how pdocs can be! ha!

hey there, i was diagnosed with bi-polar, but a much less severe kind like yours its seems. my highs weren't insane or anything to make a fuss about, but my lows just never went away, but when they did i wasn't manic or nuts. anyhow, after being on anti-depressants, my doc put me on lithium and i see the benefits of it. it really takes away the low feelings that feel like u can't shake. i stil take it in conjuction with lexapro and effexor, but so far so good. also, a side note, lithium can be used for depression as well, it's just a mood stabalizer and it will eliminate the lows, for me at least. good luck!!!

I'm primarily depressed, and that's what I take and it's been a great combo so far, no side effects and it actually works (we'll see if that's true in the long term.)
