Hello everyone! So new problem now. DS is 10 months old and recently starting crawling and pulling himself up. He is now pulling himself up in his crib. Today at nap time I did our normal nap routine. He was so tired during his story that he couldn't even keep his eyes open. So I sang his naptime song and put him in bed. As soon as he hit the mattress it was like someone flipped a switched he was wired!!! He kept standing up and wouldn't lay back down. So I left him in hopes he would go to sleep. For over an hour he was in there goofing around and being silly. How do you get a baby to stop playing in his crib and go to sleep??? I usually read to him until he is asleep but only during his naps. At bedtime we put him down awake if he hasn't drifted off during his bottle. But at naptime there is just not enough time to put him down awake it seems. Because he wastes the whole time monkeying around in there.
Any ideas?!?

He is still showing off his new skills, really pleased with himself. He will settle down, right now it is a huge adventure. Since he is happy, just let him go at his own pace. Not that you can make them sleep anyway. Just make sure that he stays in his crib for the whole of the nap time (no toys, dark room, etc) whether he sleeps or not, and his little brain will settle into a routine eventually.

E1979,
How are you? I had this same problem with Ella when she first started pulling up around 7 1/2 months. When it was time for bed she was fine, but at nap time, forget it. All she wanted to do was play and would do so the whole time and not end up napping at all. I just let her go and did what I needed to do. Eventually she got out of this and would just play for about 10 minutes tops and then finally fall asleep. That is where we are now. There are days when she is sooo tired that she goes right to sleep, but others she wants to play first. I say as long as he is in his crib and safe, just let him be. I agree with the previous poster, he still thinks his new skills are really something and just wants to show them off. Eventually he should get over it and get back to napping. I can understand your frustration though. There are days where Ella refuses to nap period. I don't see how a kid can go that long without sleeping! And with me being pregnant again, there are some days where I PRAY she will just take a nap!!!! :D

Good luck to you!

Hi Delia! We are doing really well. Can you believe they are 10 months old now!?! It is crazy how fast this first year is flying by. How are you doing in your pregnancy? When are you due? Did you find out what you are having again? Or going for surprize this time like I did with Tanner?

E,
Hey! I am glad you all are doing well! I cannot believe they are 10 months old already!!! In two months, they are going to be a year old! Ella is doing great and is definitely a handfull!!!! :D The pregnancy is going pretty well. I will be 20 weeks on Tuesday and already at the halfway point, I can't believe it!! It seems like it went a lot slower with Ella. Anyway, we are having another little girl and are so excited for Ella to have a sister. :) The only problem thus far was a little bleeding at the beginning which turned out to be nothing and then at my 18 week ultrasound they found out that the baby has a 2 vessel umbilical cord (only one artery I guess) but the perinatologist didn't seemed all that concerned so I am trying to think good thoughts. So now we are just trying to figure out baby names again and of course we aren't agreeing!

I am so glad to hear your family is doing well!!! ;)

Wow! Another little girl. That's great. Congratulations and I hope everything continues to go smoothly for you.
Tanner is quite the handful aswell. He just got his first cousin 2 weeks ago. My older brother had his first. A little girl named Avery. Seeing a baby so small again makes me kinda want another one. But we're waiting to start TTC until Tanner turns two.
