I have a particular interest in childhood Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and am currently doing my masters psychology thesis on the functional impairments of South African children and adolescents with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (i.e., how OCD affects the lives of children). I am not a qualified psychologist, however if you do need links to resources on the web and other information about childhood OCD i am happy to help.

My study began last year and is continuing this year. The preliminary results show that South African children with OCD are impaired in multiple domains (i.e., school, home and social) as a result of OCD. This research is really important as it will inform the diagnosis and treatment of childhood OCD, especially that of South African children with OCD.

The study is being conducted through the University of Cape Town's Psychology Department, South Africa. However, children are been interviewed in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg. If your child has OCD or is showing signs of OCD, they are eligible to take part in the study. If you would like to find out more about the study and what it involves or if you would like to find out more about childhood OCD please contact me. My e-mail is larahoppe@gmail.com/ Ph: 021-6506568 (office hours) or Ph: 0845010385. Or contact Dr. Kevin Thomas on 021-650 4608

Ps. this is not a treatment study
