This is only my second post, but I wanted to thank you all for sharing. I was able to gather much strength and inspiration from the posts here. My mom was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung cancer in Feb. of this year. She had went to her primary doctor in January (9th) due to feeling like she had pulled a muscle in her shoulder. After an xray the tumor was discovered, the size of an orange. I was able to quit my job and take her to the numerous doctor visits and finally went back to work at the end of Feb. She had suffered from lower back pain for two years at least often thinking she had kidney stones. After her PET scan it was found she had cancer in so so many places, now I think she may have had bone cancer, but the tumor in the lung was what was checked first. She had probably around 8 chemo treatments, carbo and taxol, having her last a couple of weeks before her passing. She was a fighter up to the end. She was hospitalized 12 days before her passing for Congestive Heart Failure. She went home agreeing to try hospice. I believe the doctor would have kept her at the hospital had she not chosen to try hospice. He was very nice and wanted to get her out of the pain. She was able to sleep in a bed for the last two weeks of her life. She passed very peaceful last Saturday at 4pm, taking small but shallow breaths. She was able to talk until the Wednesday prior, but had quit drinking a couple of days before. She was a nibbler on her food, but she tried. I will miss her so much. She was 71 and had celebrated her birthday in March.

Hello donna,

It was a cavalier thing that you did; quitting your job to take care of your mother and I just felt the need to acknowledge this.

Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, trust me when I tell you this.

Take care and know that my prayers are with you.

Respectfully,

Phoenix
