I hardly ever feel joy in anything. Usually numb or blah to most things. I know I need to be on depression meds although my dr never prescribed any. Can anyone tell me about Cymbalta? Did it work for you? Any side-effects? I also suffer from fibromyalgia and have heard this helps the fibro pain. I am thinking about asking my dr for this. I recently quit smoking, gained 10 lbs. which has added to my depression.
Thanks!

Your doctor will know or at least have an idea what med is best for you if that is what is necessary. Anti depresssants tend to effect everyone differently so it tends to be a trial by error process.

take care

I hear ya! I have had 5 surgeries and feel the same way. My doctor put me on Cymbalta yesterday, so I can't tell you if it works or not. I can tell you that my doctor believes Cymbalta is good for nerve pain and depresssion.

In my case, I have both and am optimistic that this will help. I have been on Vicodin and Methadone for pain, but was told both can cause depression and tend to decrease levels of Testosterone, which contribute to depression.

Good luck!

You need to consider your depression for what it is....a disease. When your sick don't you go to a doctor? I was on Cymbalta . It is a good med but just didn't work for me. Now I am on Lexapro and I'm doing great. I have anxiety mixed in with my depression.

There is no way I could function without being on a antidepressant. Most people who have depression can't either.

Take the plunge and get on something for your depression. You might have to try a few until you find the one that suits you. It is well worth it. Good luck.

Hello J,

Some doctor's get offended when you suggest a particular medication to them.

Express the possibility of medication with the physician.

Are you currently taking anything for the fibromyalgia?

Respectfully,

Phoenix
