View Full Version : How risky is putting an open wound in public toilet water?

Long story short - I drank too much last week and was being held over a public toilet by a sober friend. Now the friend didn't flush the toilet beforehand but said it apeared clean. Well he couldn't take the smell of the vomit and let go of me for a few seconds. I fell face-first into the toilet water, bashing my nose into the bottom of the bowl and started bleeding in the water! I know that HIV probably isn't a risk since it can't survive very long in air or water but are there other things I should be tested for (mainly Hepatitis C)?

I was thinking the only way I could get something is if someone just had come to that toilet beforehand and bleed into the bowl and left, which seems very improbable. Anyways, it was most likely flushed beforehand according to my friend since he said the water looked clean. Am I just worrying over nothing?

it is impossible to get hiv in that manner.
besides a bashed nose and a bruised ego
you should be fine.
