View Full Version : Herpes all over your body? Can it be so?

Hi all,

During your first out break, is it possible to have blisters all over your body?

Say the odd blister on your face, back of your head, legs, arms, back of your hands, feet, chest, side, back and genitals?

Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

Would this be Shingles?

It's extremely unlikely that this would be HSV. Nonexist has talked about geting what he thinks are OBs all over his body, but he has experimented with some pretty unorthodox treatments that might have affected his OB patterns IMO. It certainly isn't typical for HSV by any stretch.

HSV will stay in the same nerve ganglion as was initially infected. That means you will only get OBs in a limited skin area -- e.g., the "boxer shorts" area, in the case of genital herpes. The only way (that I know for sure) for it to infect a different ganglion (and therefore a different dermatome or skin area) is to transfer it there via skin-to-skin contact again. For instance, if you touch an infected area that's shedding the virus and then immediately touch another area where it can enter the skin (like scratching).

As far as I know shingles will stick to the same dermatome too, but having chicken pox might be a different matter. Chicken pox is caused by the herpes vericella zoster virus and can (years later) develop into the condition known as shingles. If what you have is chicken pox you'd be pretty sick to have it as an adult I think. Also, it would only be if you never had it as a child, but in that case it wouldn't be shingles which is a much later stage of it.

Are you sure what you have isn't an allergic reaction to something?? Get a doctor or dermatologist to have a look see. Let us know what it turns out to be, okay?
