I got my pathology report today, and from what I understand, it seems like they got all of the abnormalities, which were pretty much on the surface of my cervix, they did not extend into the canal, and I asked the doctor, who was filling in for my doctor, if my margins were clear, and he shook his head yes, and told me they'd see me again in 3 months for a colposcopy.
So "YAY" for now...but it was reiterated that because I'm HPV positive and at high risk for dysplasia, it could possibly return, which I already knew. I expect it to make a return at some point in my life because I smoke, I have HPV, and I've already had dysplasia, of course.
I want to try to quit smoking, and do all that is necessary to prevent it, but I'm not sure how this quitting smoking thing is going to go over. I feel better for now, but come time for my colposcopy in August, I'll be nervous as heck.
Also, can anyone translate this into NON doctor speak?
ENDOMETRIUM CURETTAGE: Proliferative phase glands and stroma and chronic endometritis
CERVIX CONE BIOPSY: Condyloma acuminata and moderate squamous dysplasia with koilocytosis, appearing to involve the exocervical margin of resection in the 3 6 o'clock quadrant. Remaining margins free of dysplasia.
Also, what the heck is "Unremarkable endocervical mucosa"? I assume its something with mucus membranes, but what does everything else mean? I know its nothing bad, because my path report says no evidence of dysplasia, on the endocervix curettage they did, as well as the deep anterior cervix cone biopsy they did.
The doctor that was filling in for her, was in a rush, he kept giving me the most brief answers ever, and after my second question, I gave up. Hope she's there next time...he was a pompous jerk.
Thanks again!
