I have Obsessive-Compulsive disorder although I havent actually been diagnosed with this...I have extreme disease phobia which makes it hard for me to go to a doctor. I am also petrified of being tested for serious diseases so i was wondering...is it possible to get independant treatment for OCD that doesn't involve body check-ups or any other physical examination, and also I know that part of the treatment is facing the fear...is there any other method for treating OCD. Its making it really hard for me to get help

I don't think that OCD treatment normally involves a physical check-up.
OK, if you go to a general physician, that might be part of the routine... so I would say, go to a psychiatrist... the main treatments for OCD are cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and medication. Often they are used in combination.
CBT does mean that you are going to "face your fears", but you usually start with your smallest fear, and you don't have to do anything you are not ready for. Medication can help making the CBT easier.
I would also recommend the book "Brain Lock" by Jeffery M. Schwartz. A therapist I had worked with it.

Hi- (5-27-08)
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO I CAME ACROSS A BOOK AT THE LIBRARY WHICH
EXPLAINED A TREATMENT METHOD FOR OCD CALLED ERPA. BASICALLY, WHAT THE PERSON WITH OCD DOES IS:
1. EXPOSE YOURSELF (VISUALLY) TO THE SOURCE OF THE FEAR THAT STARTS YOUR OBSESSION (AND HENCE STARTS YOUR COMPULSIONS);
2. THEN, TRY TO NOT PERFORM YOUR COMPULSIONS IN THE PRESENCE OF THESE FEARS OR OBSESSIONS;
3. START WITH A SMALL FEAR AND WORK UP TO NOT REACTING TO LARGER ONES;
4. AS YOU BECOME PROFICIENT AT THIS, THE COMPULSIONS SHOULD DIMINISH BECAUSE YOUR BRAIN CHEMISTRY IS BEING CHANGED AND THE NEURAL CONNECTIONS ARE BEING CHANGED AS WELL IN TERMS OF OCD.
5. TRY THIS METHOD 20 MINUTES A DAY...UNTIL THE OCD EXTINCTS ITSELF. IT'S EASIER SAID THAN DONE, BUT IT TAKES A LOT OF WILL-POWER. I HAVEN'T SPENT THE TIME TO MASTER THIS TREATMENT YET BUT NEED TO.
THE NAME OF THE ERPA BOOK IS CALLED:
OVERCOMING COMPULSIVE CHECKING
By: Paul R. Munford
Nov. 2004
ISBN # 13-9781572243781
Cost: $14.95 New
