my 6 year old has VSD, a small hole between the left and right ventricle.

SHe sees a cardiologist every year and they say she is fine, its not getting any smaller but no treatment or surgery required. They said the worst thing she will have to do is take antibiotics for any medical or dental procedure she has done.

this morning she woke up holding her heart (she is dramatic when it comes to being sick or getting hurt) and saying her heart hurt because it was beating way fast. All she did was get out of bed and walk down the hall way.

I didnt think anything of it until driving into work and remembered her murmur and her little face sitting on the couch when I was leaving, curled up on the couch holding her chest. she's at school now, i emailed her teacher to check on her, i think she is fine, but now I am a little worried.

thank you

Take her to the cardiologist for an EKG as soon as you are able. I'm sure she has had a bazillion EKGs at this point, so they should humor you. I would insist on it, and I would do it as soon as possible.

My son has Supraventricular Tachycardia, or SVT for short. Look it up online and see what you get for symptoms, but the MAIN thing is a rapid heartbeat. There are many different kinds of sinus tachycardia all characterized by some kind of out of whack, too slow or too fast rhythm. They are not GENERALLY dangerous, but it needs to be caught immediately if it is a sinus tachycardia so they can treat and monitor it.

It would be better to take her in and have it turn out to be nothing than the alternative. I wouldn't go to your pediatrician either, just go straight to your cardiologist. Good luck.
