My DH and I went to the DR today and the DR prescribed DH Clomid for 3 months. We just got the second semen analysis results back and all of his numbers are low. My DH has a a varicocele. In 3 months he'll have to go in for a semen analysis. Has anyone heard anything about men taking Clomid or has anyone heard of anyone getting pregnant with the male taking Clomid. I've been looking online and I cannot really find anything!

Hi Breehope
My DH took clomid for three months, a very low dosage 25mil per night. He took it because his testostorone was low. I cant tell if it really helped

Thank you for the response. Is your DH on Clomid? If so did he do a semen analysis after 3 months. I am just so confused and I dont want to be getting the run around. Thank you :)

My DH never had a low sperm count, he started out at 67mil on 1st analyst, for our 1st iui his ct was 51mil and 2nd iui his ct was 36 mil (a little low for him because we didnt take the full 3day break). DH had to take clomid to boast his natural testoterone because at age 45 it takes him a little longer to get kick started, so to speak.

Hi Bree,
My BF never used clomid (our issues were w/ me), but I have heard of men taking clomid before. I can't seem to remember the reasons behind it though so I don't know how much my post will help. If you are really confused, maybe you could seek out a second opinion? At least if the 2nd dr concurred w/ what your dr is saying, it might give you some piece of mind & confidence. Have you told your dr how confused you are? Or tried talking to a nurse within your dr's office? A lot of times I would leave an appt confused, & I would call the nurse & she would be able to explain things to me. Might be worth a shot. They shouldn't be offended if you ask questions. You have every right to understand why something is being done.
Good luck to you!!
Holly

Thank you for the reponse. We have an appt with the Urologist so, I think we'll get a second opinion from that DR because I really dont feel confident! :)

Oh i forgot to mention that my dh was subscribed clomid by his urologist. Just to lighten things up a bit, i would make a joke to my RE about me and dh we bonding by taking clomid together and that we both were having night sweats. But his dosage was so low he had so outward side effect.

So DH started taking Clomid Monday. The Urologist said if the Clomid doesn't work then he'll do the surgery in 3 months. So, now were just waiting. DH hasn't really had any sife effects yet....it's only been 3 days though :)

The dosage for men is usually so low they dont feel it. My RE suggest always taking clomid at night before you go to bed so the medicine takes effect while you sleep.

Yeah I've been giving DH his Clomid and man vitamin at night before bed. Last night he kept getting hot flashes. I dont know if it was because it's hot our or if it was the meds. I hope it works! :)
