If you and your wife have HSV2, it is possible but to transfer genital herpes to the face or other areas. It is supposed to be more difficult to spread that way.
I've never heard of HSV being bad for the spleen

If you spread type 2 herpes from the genitals to the face, it is STILL type 2 herpes. Types 1 or 2 can live in either place, genitals or oral. If you've had either type for awhile (probably more than 1 year) then you are not likely to spread it to other areas of the body as your body has established enough antibodies to keep the virus from affecting other areas of the body and establishing a hold.
If you only have type 2 herpes, and not type 1, it is unlikely you can get infected with type 1 of any kind. However, the opposite is not true. It's something about the antibodies from type 2 helps protect you from getting type one.
Hope that helps!!
