duncan1 05-16-2008, 08:37 PM Minocycline is effective in treating AD, and AD sufferers should begin a course of Minocycline ASAP.: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17406652 Sponsor duncan1 05-16-2008, 08:48 PM At age 49, I was in stage 3/4 of AD (see sticky above) onset. The cause was an undiagnosed case of Lyme Disease, and long term treatment with Minocycline has given me my brain back. Minocycline prevents brain cell death and combats the inflammatory processes that cause AD. I can't emphasize this strongly enough: Minocycline is effective against AD! Minocycline is an effective treatment and the sooner you or a loved one begin treatment, the sooner the disease progression can be stopped and/or reversed. Martha H 05-16-2008, 09:10 PM You may have been having Alzheimer-like symptoms and the drug helped get rid of the underlying cause. The real Alzheimers cannot be cured by any antibiotic since it is not a bacterial disease, but a physical deterioration of the brain from as yet unknown causes. Thank God you didn't have it! Love, Martha duncan1 05-16-2008, 10:01 PM Minocycline does prevent brain cell death even when no infection is present, by combating the inflammation that accompanies AD, and which seems to be continuing in my brain despite IV antibiotic treatment, which, in theory should have destroyed the infection. The problem is that many people with underlying infections will develop symptoms which are indistinguishable from AD. How can anyone know if the cause is an infection, or a post infectious inflammation unless they are treated with a safe, broadspectrum antibiotic like minocycline, which has been proven to be effective against other inflammatory disorders like MS? Minocycline treatment should be tried for all cases of suspected AD, as it will do no harm, but can reverse the disease depending on the causitive agent. |
