Hey everyone, I am asking this because my cousin had some blood work done, and the doctor told him his red blood cell count was high,,I dont know how high it was, but he has and appointment to go get it checked at a cancer clinic....he is afraid and i am trying to resure him that it could be other problems he has that may be triggering it..but i am not sure, he has high chorestol and high blood pressure, and is a little over weight, and he does have hepatitis C....so anyway if anyone knows more about high red blood cell counts please reply...thank you very much.

i had a similar lab result. i heard the term, "polycythemia vera" mine seems to have cleared up on its own.

the hepatitis c may be causing the blood cells to be enlarged and causing the lab results to look like a high count when it is not that.
