I checked some of your recent previous posts. Have you been back to the neurologist? What did the doctor tell you?
Before my c-spine surgery my walking was so bad that I literally had to tell my legs to move. I should have been using a cane for balance. But, I was at my best in the morning and worse as the day went on.
That said, you haven't listed a lot of symptoms other than the balance and pain. That does sound different than many of us posting on this board. Have you had a head MRI to rule out stuff like MS (that was where my neuro started with me and then he found the c-spine stenosis).
More than half the battle here is having an upbeat attitude -- obviously that's easier when you know what's going on -- but just convince yourself that "here's the new normal, gotta live with it, go for it" -- I'm not in pain, I "just" have walking issues (still have C5-C6 stenosis but not bad enough (yet) for more surgery) - people look at me like "I must be in great pain" - but I'm not, I grin and bear it and keep as active as I can and just brush friends and strangers off with "oh I have c-spine neurological problems"
Please find something upbeat to help yourself out.

Hi - I did notice it had been a while since you had been here. I agree with Sunshine, some of this battle is in the brain. It is so easy to get depressed, I experience this myself. It seems like I am never getting well or feeling better. But when I look back at each day I find that there are times I feel good and I try to recognize that so it doesn't always feel like I am horrible condition.
I suggest you talk to your doctor about getting into pain management program. I see a specialist in this because there are no more surgeries for me right now and I am in severe pain. Pain management has helped me very much. Within their practice they also have a pain psychologist and seeing that doctor helps too.
I understand how you feel, mornings are the hardest for me too. I get horrible sleep because pain is always waking me up. The pain doctors have helped me find the right combo of medications to be more comfortable.
What things do you do for yourself to deal with your condition? Do you use heat pad/ice? Any exercise? Any hobbies?

Sweetie,
were you checked for MS, RA (rheumotoid Arthrities) or Fibromoyloga? All of them hard to diagnose and it takes a very good Rheumotologist to be persistant and diagnose you with this painful conditions.
I have the last 2 and I know how painful life can be.
All the best to you and hopefuly you will find the answers.
Make sure you don't give up. By pain your body tells you something.
((((( to you)))))

truthseeker, I just wanted to tell you how sorry i am for the physical and mental pain you are going through.you sound like your desperate and i understand that feeling,i just took 2 pain pills and oatmeal for breakfast the pills usually kick in by noon.Ive had my legs lock up many times it seems to be my left leg,i notice mine is worse before a period,i also have neck problems they say i have a nerve pushing on my spinal cord,i also have severe spinal and cervical stenosis, and other things my mind just cant grasp because of the pain.its very scary to have your legs lock up and painful do you notice any triggers before youe episodes.i find i have to eat very light or the pain is worse, beleave me oatmeal would not be my first choice for breakfast, but its healthy,i am now trying to heal myself because i dont think the drs really care, and iam hoping if i eat properly i will get some relief.try to stay calm because stress is a major trigger,i know thats a tall order, and i hope you feel better, you are not alone we are all praying for you and things will get better. marywoo

I did go see someone from pain management program and they put me on celebrex 200mg I didn't wont any med that I can get hooked on I don't wont to mask the pain but fix it, don't get me wrong I have been on alot of pain pills before I have tried them all and nothing touches it,its like I'm eatting candy. can not tell I'm taking it and I go June 18th to have cerical epidural steroid Injection not sure what that is but I hope to god it works. my neck feels like someone took a hammer and beat me down with it. I have burning pain in my upper back. my three fingers on my right side go numb sometimes.like I said when I wake up in the morning it feels like my legs are locked up it takes a good 15 mins where they feel like they are working right. then like I said in the other post my feet go inward sometimes and I have to catch myself from falling. I have a two story house and the master bedroom is up there I have missed the last step don't know why that is happening and I have done that on other steps going down the decks of the house. I have scars on my knees where I've fallen down. we are thinking about taking the other master bedroom down stairs because my husband is so scared that I'm going to fall on the very top step. my whole body feels like I have the flu all the time. but my neck is the worse of it all I can not even put in words how bad it is other then I feel like I've been hit with a hammer thanks for the replys they mean alot to me your friend Beth

I'm so sorry about you're going through. Sounds like you're in tremendous pain and also going through other issues.
I know the spine can be responsible for much. It's like if things aren't right with the spine it throws everything off. Have you had a RECENT Spine MRI to see if your condition has advanced?
Also, I can't help but wonder if you might need an MRI of your brain. I have Systemic Lupus and a few years back I had tremendous issues with neurologic complications related to my lupus and SO many of my symptoms were very similar to what you are describing. I actually had lesions on my brain that are consistent with MS. But, for me it wasn't MS it was all related to my Lupus. I'm definitely not saying you have lupus or MS, but I would really look into having an MRI of your brain, because some of your symptoms - the balance issues, and leg weakness could mean something more be at play.
You are in my thoughts and I would definitely follow-up with neurologist and request more tests be ran.
Please keep us posted on how you're doing.
