View Full Version : sleeping on the floor

My daughter will be 3 in July. We bought her new bedroom furniture in November, along with a new twin sized bed. (She had been sleeping in a toddler bed with her old crib mattress.) She made the transition well with no protestations. All of a sudden this month, she has insisted on sleeping on the floor! Sometimes she'll fall asleep fine in her bed, and then start crying around midnight asking us to lay a blanket on the floor for her. Other nights, she'll move to the floor as soon as the bedtime routine is through. Should we be concerned? Should we insist she stay in her bed? Any suggestions?

I dont think there should be much of a concern with it maybe she just prefers the hard surface of the floor my husband is always yelling at me because he cant understand why I prefer to sit on the living room floor instead of the furniture.. and my niece and sister in law still sleep on the floor instead of there beds I have no idea why.

Could it be that your LO is afraid of falling off the bed? I know it can be scary for a child to be higher off the ground after the transition from a toddler bed to a big girl twin bed. Do you have bed rails on to make her feel more secure and safe?

Other than fright causing her to sleep on the floor, I would have to agree with the previous poster...maybe she just likes the harder surface.

Good Luck!!
Angela :)
