Chrissy:

It actually got moved to tomorrow (Tuesday)!! I went in for my pre-op today and I said "too bad I didn't schedule it for tomorrow" (one of my original choices) and he said "we just had a cancellation...want to move it to tomorrow?" and I said YES in hopes that I can get some pain relief sooner. He said just as he was walking into the room to see me the other surgeon told him that one of the patients for tomorrow had a death in the family and had to cancel. The worst part is the surgery is at noon, I have to be there at 10, by which time I will be soooooooooooooooo hungry and nervous. I prefer the "be there at 6 am" version so I don't have time to wake up or get hungry or get nervous :-)

I'm happy because having a "surprise" surgery date actually gives me less time to stress about getting ready, the procedure, etc - all of the sudden it's tomorrow!!!! And he's going to do a 2 level posterior foraminotomy instead of just the one. He said after looking at the CT Myelogram and reviewing my symptoms I do have some from C5-C6 as well (he had already planned on C6-C7). I told him "let's be more aggressive than less aggressive - I would rather do 2 levels now and not have to come back in 12 or 18 or 24 months to do it all again".

The worst part has been 2 weeks without NSAIDS. While vicodin helps it doesn't help my bad knees, lower back, etc as much as the occasional dose of NSAID does...part of the reason I am so very happy to have this done tomorrow.

As soon as I can I'll get back on the boards and give you and update.

Good Luck Karin,

I will be thinking of you today!

I am not sure if you will get to read this before you leave for the hospital.

I am thinking that your doc will have you in the hospital a day or so after the surgery! I hope that you have a good stay in the hospital and all goes well with the surgery.
Oh I forgot to tell you that they had to shave some of my hair off the back of my neck. Nothing to dramatic. No one will be able to see it or anything.
God Bless you and we shall see you soon.....:angel::angel::angel:

Thanks. I just signed on for a few minutes before we leave for the hospital. He did tell me it's a one night stay, I told him if they put me on morophine via IV I'd stay 2 nights if insurance would let me but he said typically it's only one night. With my ACDF I stayed 2 nights. I gotta admit, there is an advantage to hospital beds with how they can be raised / lowered to meet your comfort.

Karin:

I hope your surgery went well and that they were able to keep you comfortable in the hospital.

When you feel up to it, please let us know how you're doing.

You're in my thoughts.
