I was wondering because I read that children 4-5 years old grow about 3 inches in that year,I know each child is different. My daughter ever since birth most of the time has been very high on the % chart for height or at least between the 75th and 90th. And I haven't paid much attention to it since she was 3 because they don't really do much with charts at the docs after 3. The other day I had noticed that since her 4yr check up in nov 07 when she was 40.5 inches which was at the 66% for height then. She is still 40.5 inches. And now she is at the 36% for height. Shouldn't she have grown a little by now? and not dropped 30% in 6 months?
Thanks for any info.
Also she weighs 34lbs, If that helps.

i wouldn't be too concerned about it just yet. my daughter is about the same age, and she has always been tall for her age too.... until around her 4 year check up in december, when she hadn't grown at all for at least 6 months. i measured her again in february, and she was at the same place as she was in december. very unusual for her because she was always at least a quarter of an inch taller every few months.... anyway, we decided to measure her last week after her dad got home from deployment, and she was a full inch taller!!! i don't know if i measured her wrong before, or if she's just grown a full inch in two and a half months!

point is, it's possible that they measured her wrong before, or that she just hit a lull in her growing. her height and weight sound like they're pretty average for her age (my daughter is taller than all of her friends who are also in the 4-5 range, and she's only about three inches taller than your daughter.... she weighs close to the same too). :)

We tend to have issues with not gaining weight, but gaining in height. Has grown several inches, but weight has remained the same. He'll be 5 in a couple weeks, but his weight has pretty much been 38-39 pounds for the past year or so.

Thanks. She has had several dr's appts with different doctors since then for different issues and height has been the same, I am sure she'll have a growth spurt soon.
Thanks again
