How many of you guys and girls make use of analgesic adjuvants/simple analgesics, as per the WHO anlgesic ladder

eg. do you take regular tylenol/nsaid as the basis of your pain program\

do you take tricyclic antidepresants, anticonvolsants etc

or are you just on opoids?

I take a Oxycontin, Vicodin and Soma every day. I also take Xanax or Klonopin for anxiety or as a sleep aid (in that order). But the only time I take ibuprofen is for occasional monthly cramping or as an ingredient in OTC sinus or cold meds. I also take other Rx meds for non pain related issues. There is already enough acetaminophen in my Vicodin and most NSAID's are murder on my stomach, due to so many taken in the early years of PM.

In my experience, with back and spine issues, I've noticed that neuros and orthos have a tendency to prescribe what my neuro called the "back pain cocktail"......Opiate/opioid, Muscle Relaxer and NSAID.

ever tried amitriptyline/nortriptyline...... doctors here love to make pain patients try them, though IMHO they do nothing but make you feel sleepy and give you a dry mouth

Used prothiaden a while ago, but gave it away.... it didnt give enough releif to make the side effects worth it.
