joyce45,

If you feel that there is something missing in your life, then there probably is. This doesn't mean that you have to make a major upheaval and throw away everything and start anew. But it is an opportunity for you to ask yourself what you would like.

At this time of life, there are often several things going on. The kids are no longer so dependent on us perhaps, and we may have more time to ourselves that we didn't have before. And there is of course the upheaval in our hormones, which destabilizes our emotions.

Here is your opportunity to ask yourself questions about what you would like. Is there a hobby that you have always wanted to take up but never had the time? Is there someplace that you would like to visit? Is there something that you can learn in adult education or the university? What about a new degree -- or a first one if you never completed college? Would you like to have a new way of interacting with your husband? What are you interested in?

This time of life is called "the change" -- for good reason. :)

Also depression comes with menopause sometimes. Not always does depression seem obvious to us but can seem just like we are down and sometimes missing something. I have taken Fish, flax, and borage and it helped for a while but recently started taking 5-HTP and it seems to be lifting my feelings of missing something. Wish I could help better.
