Ok, this may seem a bit weird to some of you. But, I took a test with a very faint line last week, have had symptoms of pregnancy. i.e: achiness, nauseus, sore nipples, fullness of breasts, and even the little pooch where the baby may be, but I went to the ER for an unrelated illness in which they asked if I was preggo, I told them I had taken the test and it was pos. well, they did a test and it was negative. What is going on? Is it possible to have a neg/pos? The did no tests to see if I was or not due to the fact that I was under a panic attack. Mainly because my fiance thinks I am preggo cause of the test. I need answers, anyone have any? Any ideas or tips on the best way to concieve?

Im not sure if i will be of any help but from what i read a line is a line weather it is faint or not... how many DPO are you? and how many DPO were you when you got your BFP? I would suggest to retest in a couple of days or wait till your period is due and retest then... if still BFN go too your doc for a blood test...

If you do not get your period in the next few days, I would ask for a blood test. There are such things as false-negatives.

Good luck!

The first month I ttc w/ my first child I had a chemical pregnancy. Basically I had a few symptoms (can't remember exactly which ones) I took a hpt and it was a faint positive. Went to dr and they gave me a pee test which was negative. So they ran the bloodwork and the day it came back I was having my period so I called to tell them that and she was just fixing to call me and tell me that my hcg number was 17. That number was a drop in a bucket because it is supposed to been in the thousands at that point. So I had a chemical pregnancy. It is basically where the embryo (is that what you call it at that point?, not sure) does not embed into the uterine wall enough. It happens in ~30% of all pregnancys but goes unnoticed because most people don't take a test or arent trying to get pregnant and they start their period and never know the difference. It is not a predictor of future pregnancies and my dr said that most likely the next month I would get preggo and I did and had a healthy baby. That is why most dr. dont want you to test until you are a week late for your period and don't like those supersensitive hpt's. I am not saying this is what is going on w/ you, but it is possible. I am really sorry if it is. I know I was pretty upset about it though. Let us know what happens. Praying for you.
