the dr. thought it went fine

They always do....:(

Hopefully it will work for you. I know someone that was helped by ESI's and didn't need any further treatment...but they didn't do a thing for me.

The epidurals did last for a little while. I have had several done and they varied anywhere from a week of relief to 4 weeks. You wont know if it has worked, until the pain from the procedure is gone and for me, that took about 4-5 days. I seemed to heal slower than normal, so I don't know it it will take that long for you or not. But I remember after the 1st time, I thought something had gone really wrong. On day 3 I thought I felt ok to run a few errands. I used my walker and went in to the post office. As I was walking up to the counter, my back started to spasm and my legs just gave out. If I ha not had the walker, I would have been flat on the floor. Believe me, you will get over this part of the pain, just stay home and rest for a few more days.

Let me know if the injections end up working. I remember being happy, even for that month. I was 100 % pain free and boy was that nice:D.

I am so sorry that it was such a painful procedure. At least now you know in the future what to askfor ahead of time. I usually get Valium prior to procedures, but I am sure there are other meds. that do just the same thing. I am guessing that tomorrow you will be a little better and then probably fine in the next day or so. What you described happened to you today, sounds just like the spasm that caught me off gaurd, at the post office. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hello, "lady". I had my first lumbar E.S.I. in January of this year. Unfortunately, I had adverse side effects, which caused terrible burning sensations up my spine and throughout my shoulders and nose bleeds for a couple of days. Also, I didn't get any pain relief from the injections. I do know that several people get pain relief from the injections, so that is great! I pray that you are one of those people and continue to get better. Please continue to update us! Sincerely, Tam
