OMG, I can't even believe I've created a thread with that title!!! I've waited forever to say those words and actually feel confident saying them! :bouncing::bouncing::bouncing: So here is the crazy thing, I don't know my HCG # yet, and I didn't take a HPT... so how do I know, you ask??? ......Well when I got in to the office, I was visibly shaken and prob looked like crap because of my horrible nite. My nurse confessed that she actually did test the blood sample they took when I went in on Monday to be looked at for my OHSS symptoms. She said it came up positive, but she does not have an HCG # from that day. I know she just wanted to reassure me since I was still kinda freaking out about the rough night I had.
Anyway, sounds like it could be almost 1pm before she calls with the HCG #. I'm still praying it's nice and strong. But I do think it's safe to say BFP!!!!! :D
I haven't had any more of the cramping like I did at 5 am (which BTW, she said was very very likely OHSS related... Teach/April, I'm glad you mentioned that your cramps accompanied diarreah as I had a BM during those 10 mins of excruciating pain and that seemed important to tell my nurse after reading what you wrote) and the shoulder pain is not as bad as last nite (she said she's 100% certain that is OHSS related).
Thanks you guys for your support! I started reading some of your posts on the other thread, but I'm gonna go back and read each and every word.... didn't want to keep you all waiting for too long so I decided to announce the good news now!

THANK YOU!!!! All of you!!!! I mean it, your excitement for me is making this moment more sweet than I ever imagined!!!
I do have another beta Fri. They also will do another CBC on me and ultrasound because of the ohss scenario. They forwarned me we will not see anything but fluid in there so I am not to be alarmed when we don't see sacs. As for now, I have a headache and am EXHAUSTED from lack of sleep last nite so I'm gonna try and get some shut eye. (((hugs))) to all of you!

Okay, where in the world do I begin with my thank you's???!!! I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Mel, hope to see you soon on the other side... I've been here on the IF board for a LONG time and I'll prob not have courage to post there until I have to. Def praying I get to the point where I must make the switch. :)
Oh my friend Amy, Can you believe it was almost a year ago when you posted your good news! I've told you before but I recall it like yesterday! And now you have baby in arms, and I'm finally following your footsteps! Love ya girl, thx for your continued support.
Lizzie! I'm so glad you were able to check in today! Even tho we didn't end up being Oct mommies together, I'm still so thrilled that you and I will still get to be preggers together!!! Hope you and baby are well!
April, you have me cracking up over here! I feel a bit weirded out with all the pre-u/s talks of maybe multiples, but let's be honest here... 675 for a first beta is no doubt gonna make you think there's more than one in there! I'm still shocked... and still praying it doubles come Fri! DH I think is beside himself with excitement. He called his mom... it was so cute! :D His parents have been DYING for grandchildren as his 40 yr old sister can't have them nor can his 32 yr old sister. He had been telling me that I should expect something under 100 and be happy with that... when he heard 675 I think he almost passed out!
Charlene, my nap was awesome! I did need it! (I bet I'll be craving a lot of naps in the future, huh??? I'm sure you've had many of those days miss 2nd trimester!!! ;)) Headache is gone too!
Hi Mrs! Hearing you all emotional for me is bringing out the waterworks all over again! I didn't think I'd be able to enjoy this as much as I am, but let me offer you and anyone else still in the game encouragement... this moment is awesome! I know there will be more challenges, milestones, and fears, but I'm trying to soak in the good news as much as I can!
Lisa, I'm totally in awe. I woke up from my nap and immediately thought, please tell me this morning was not a dream!!! :D
Aimee, yes 9 days and counting till that first u/s!!! I'm so excited. If it's multiples I'm gonna be asking you for all sorts of advice since you are just a couple weeks away from meeting your little girls!!!
Teach! I can't believe how similar our journey's have become in the little time we've known each other. (It is my goal to stay OUT of the hospital tho ;)). When do you have your next u/s to take a look at your babies???
OMG CMARIE!!! I just saw your post!!! Thank you my friend!!! How is your little girl??!!! Can you believe that I finally got the news I've been DYING to hear!!! You had such an inspiring impact on me back when you described your ET that helped you conceive your little girl... that was the first real story I heard about IVF and it worked for you. It's like you've been my inspiration all along!!!
Holly, I DO know what you mean... I don't think I'd be this excited if my beta weren't so high. I've played the hcg game twice before and lost both times... You understand as well as anyone how scary it is to wait and make sure the # doubles. But I'm so relieved my first beta was SOOOO strong.
Mady... You WILL follow! We've spent so much time holding each others hands thru the IVF chapter of our journey, it is only appropriate for us to graduate together! Positive thinking my friend... this is the first cycle I was totally positive, and it seemed to have made a difference. You'll be taking at least one of those five embies home with you in nine months!!!
Daisies, thank you for stopping in! Luckily with all the preferential treatment we get being IF patients we won't have to wait long to take a look inside my uterus! I just want healthy baby (BABIES!!!)!!!
Ruby, thanks for the congrats! I know you are getting ever so close to your IVF too and that means the BFP that is long over-due! Hope you are well!

Kari - keep us posted on your u/s dates!
And bear in mind, even if the first scan only shows one, that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I am 8w6d pregnant with twins, and at the first scan at 5w5d, they did a scan and saw only one sac. A week later, it was two, with two hb's. :)
I am convinced you are having twins (if not triplets!) :)
And my beta at 14dpo (11dp3dt) was only 181!!
I'm so happy for you! :)

05-21-2008, 10:53 PM
Oh wow Daisies! No kidding???!!! I bet that was a very fun surprise!!! I'm pretty sure that Teach (April) had a very similar thing happen... she's having twins, but I think at first they only saw one sac! So crazy and also kinda cool  Yeah, so I calc'd that I'm the equivalent of 15DPO. As you can imagine I'm beyond satisfied with that first beta! I'm still in shock it was SO high!:dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:
Estella, it is exciting around here! I think I speak for all of us recently lucky ladies when I say, by all means... grab ahold, and hang on tight! The more the merrier, that is for SURE!!!
Hi KM! Thank you hun. I do hope it's a healthy 8 months. I'm hoping your new RE can help you work things out this summer so you can maybe work in the IVF like you wanted. But if not, you've got a great chance of BFP with IUI! Keep us posted!

It is sooo funny that our situations are so similar! I am looking forward to seeing you over at the other board with me :) Even though I have only been on the boards for about 4 weeks, I do feel like we really know each other. You def. helped me through the tough times!
Yes, I also had my 5 1/2 week u/s and only saw one sac and then one week later there were 2 with 2 tiny heartbeats!!! I have my next u/s on Friday and I can't wait!!
I am almost positive that you have to have two if not three in there!!! You have truly been blessed. Make sure you keep us all posted!!!

Kari, So first I have to tell you that my DH says congrats. He knew I was waiting to hear the news and when he came in the house and I was a blubbering idiot looking at the laptop..... he said, "ohhhhh nooooo, it didn't work, Kari's not pregnant is she" I wiped tears and said yes....with a whole litter of babies!!! lol He said OMG your crazy....stop crying and tell her I said congrats!!! lol so, he says congrats lol!!
So 9 days til us and beta this Friday...... I guess it will be around 2000 or higher!! I think all of them are staying and will be ready to meet you next year!!!!
I am excited to hear how everyone reacts when you tell them your wonderful news!!!
So how are you feeling???? You take care of you and your little one(s):D
I cant wait to hear your 2nd beta!!! Is it Friday yet!!!????? lol
Kari15
05-22-2008, 01:35 AM
OMG Mrs, you have me laughing so hard! Seriously no more funny jokes about me having a litter... My tummy is sore enough!:D hahaha... You have def been spending too much time with that girl pup of yours and the stud dog! :jester: You know what would prob be the biggest shocker??? If there actually was only one in there! Well 8 more days and we'll know for sure! Ive told a handful of friends and DH told his parents since they all knew we were doing IVF... I don't think they understand why we are so worked up over the beta #... They just don't get it like you guys do! Tell your DH thank you... I think it's so cool when DH's understand our bond with the girls on this board. Your DH sounds like a rockstar!
Cashahn, you know it's funny you say that about the car... when DH and I got engaged just over 3 yes ago we decided to start trying right away and we knew we wanted at least 3 or 4 (of course thought it'd happen right away!), so he decided to splurge and get me a big SUV... it's actually a H2. It's been lonely in that car so I really look forward to sharing it soon with my baby (or babies!!!!!)! I hope we are discussing your awesome first beta results too in a couple weeks!
Bee's it was a huge relief! I never imagined it'd be that high in a million years. But truth be told I'm still anxious to see it double come Friday... I just got butterflies thinking about it. Is it crazy I'm still nervous? Well if God answers my prayers and all looks good, I am stoked I will only be like a week behind you! And as hefty a rise as you had yourself you know as well as I do you may have twins!!!
Hey Teach! Well I'm so glad you found us when you did! It seemed meant to be cause you have helped me out a lot as well! I'm excited to hear about your u/s on Friday. I don't know if you're as nervous as I am about our upcoming appts, but hopefully we both have a great weekend!!!!

:bouncing: Massive congratulations, very excited for you Kari. Like many others I've been following your story. One question as I'm not as far on in this experience (only being on Clomid at mo.), what's a Beta and what do the no.s represent. I'm gathering yours are considered very high, thus very positive, thus maybe :angel: or :angel::angel: even?

Hey Airline, the beta is your first official blood-draw pregnancy test. It gives you an HCG #, which is the pregancy hormone in your body. Generally a higher number is a good thing and really high numbers often indicate multiples. But it's important to not get too caught up on that first # no matter how high or low... the important thing is whether or not it doubles in 48hrs... that is a much greater indicator of a viable pregnancy. Hence I'm still nervous about tomorrow cause I really really want to see my # double!
JAM! Good to hear from you! You are getting super close yourself, right??? What's the update girlie???!!!
Hey Kel! Thanks sweetie! I'm trying so hard to relax, but I definitely need to get some good news tomorrow before that'll happen. I'm still on cloud nine tho, after yesterday's beta!
Holly, you're certainly right about it being my time! ;):D The one good thing I feel right now is that I still feel pretty rotten. (how funny does that sound :D). Seriously tho, again I had a rough nite... moved out to the couch at 4am and just tried to get comfortable with my belly. I really can't lean to one side or the other withough major pressure on whatever organs are in the middle of my chest. I think/hope that is a good sign HCG is going up still not down. Less than 24 hrs and we'll have those 2nd beta results back!
Hi Dana! Thank you so much. I'd be thrilled for a triple, but very happy with a double. :) I really do hope things continue to go well and I'll be posting on the other side... a dream come true for me
Oh Princess my belle souer... Thank you a million times over. I appreciate your HUGE congrats and I admire you so much for your sincere love and support. I know it's a tough week for you and I understand how hard it is sometimes to get excited for others on the days when you are feeling down. Well I'm praying I'm not getting myself worked up over nothing, but something weird had happened over the last 4-5 hours. I feel better... Not just a little bit but a LOT better! No more pain, discomfort, twinges, mild cramps... even my bloated belly totally looks/feels better! I can stand up straight, lie on either side... I even tried showering and doing my hair and nothing... I'm not even exhausted from doing all that. I'm terrified my HCG is just plummeting and that's why I feel so good. I don't know how I'll make it to my follow up beta tomorrow... I'm starting to feel like it's gonna be bad news :( :( :( I think I'm gonna go out and run errands... I really hope I start feeling crappy again... I'd love nothing more than regretting tonite that I overdid it, but seriously you guys I feel like I could go to the gym!!!

Oh my dear friend! Please do not think that this is a bed sign...we can drive ourselves crazy reading into everything. Your hcg would not drop that significantly in 24 hours so I really don't think that is why you feel "better" physically. The OHSS could be getting better and that is it! I know that this is your time sweetheart.:angel::angel: I am so happy that my little angel Olivia Grace is your inspiration...she is a very special miracle and I cherish every single moment with her!

Oh boy, I kinda feel silly for getting all paranoid earlier... I really had myself worked up. :o I even called my nurse... she's like "what's wrong" and I'm like crying "I'm freaking out cause I feel fine"... how hysterical must that seem to so many people.:jester: Anyway, she told me I just needed to relax and it was almost certainly b/c the fluid was leaving my system. I decided to go to the puppy store at the mall and play with the puppies... that always warms my heart. I also went to the grocery store. By the time I got home my tummy was back to as bloated as it's ever been so I found that reassuring. :)
Pinkie and TNT, it's great to hear from both of you. Thank you so much for your kind posts... I'd love nothing more than to return the congratulatory message asap!!!!
April, I think you are right about the rest over the last couple days... I can tell it has done me good. Thanks for your prayers.
CMarie, yes your little Olivia is a miracle indeed... And I can feel the love you have for her just reading your post. It brings tears to my eyes. I really do want to continue feeling positive about everything. I know there will likely be many moments of worry thruout this pregnancy and I don't want to create any unnecessarily. Thank you for your love and prayers... I am again hopeful I will be posting good news.
Hey Aimee, I think that's good advice. I really need to take just one day at a time and be calm and positive for this baby (babies!). Thanks for your support. My appointment tomorrow is at 7:45am... so early. Not sure if that will help get that beta turned around any quicker, but I'm hoping so!!!

Oh Kari I cant imagine what you are going through it must be so stressful to get this far and then worry yourself silly over every little thing, I can asure you that I would be the same. I think with those beta # that everything will be fine and I cant wait to hear the results of your beta tomorrow. Wishing you all the best.

Kari, I must say that I would be the same way if I had a day like you had today. I'm kinda glad your symptoms came back just enough to help you feel positive again. I am also glad that your appointment is so early, so you can get your good news and know that your little one(s) are perfect and growing inside. Your right about it being shocking if there is only one in there. I would be thrilled for you if you had one healthy little one in there but, my friend, I have a feeling that you will not see just one in there when you have your u/s.
There is no reason that this is gonna stop working for you!!! Your gonna have this/these babies. Your a mommy now and it's normal for you to worry. That makes you a good mommy!!! :)
I wish I knew the words to help you to feel more at peace with this as I know I would be worried about everything I felt or didn't feel. I guess I will just say enjoy it all..... even when you worry and it turns out fine...... just know your little ones are in there!!!!
I have to comment on DH and the rockstar comment. He is a great man but, trust me..... I sometimes feel like I am here alone with all of the fertility issues. In some ways he is great but, I feel an alone feeling sometimes too. The way I can say he is best is.... he always calms me by saying an adopted baby will be ours and we will love it too. Just in case the IVF fails. Deep down I know the desire for us to have a biologic child as, he is the only one to carry on his family's name. He never adds extra pressure but, still doesn't understand even half of what this is doing to me. We seem to have a little wall up about it. I just try to think that that is just the difference between and male and female. I also realize that is why these boards help us all...... we need to feel like someone out there gets it! Kinda helps me from feeling so alone in this.
Ok, I was gonna close this but, I have to ask..... Did the puppies help? lol I feel like my little puppies, when my female has a litter is a little like therapy for me. I feel like it calms me down and helps me to take my mind off of me.... when I spend time with them.
Well, I again, cant wait to hear your good news!!! I hope you get plenty of rest and feel good tomorrow!!!!

Cashahn my friend, thank you. I know we will all worry during our pregnancies... how could we not, right? But yes, hopefully all will be good tomorrow. I want to post happy news!
Trish thank you for that very sweet post. I'm not resting till all of my friends here have their BFP's... You ALL deserve it. I know we'll all make the best mother's!
Mrs, I know for certain so many, probably most of us, can relate to that alone feeling. There's something a little different about being on the female side of this IF struggle. Maybe it's the hormones, maybe it's the maternal insinct desires... But Mrs, it's so lovely that your DH is incredibly supportive of adoption. My DH also is the only one who can carry on his family name, or produce any grandchildren in fact, and I know that's why a biological child is so important to him. But I know in my heart genetics doesn't make a parent.... Tho this cycle, being told straight out that I had egg quality issues, well I finally understood the pain that comes with thinking a biological child may not be possible. But here I am... Looks like my embies were strong enough afterall! :) Mrs, I really think IVF will bring you and your DH the same blessing. And yes, the puppies helped tremendously! I knew they would... I'm a major dog lover and when my nurse told me I had to do something to relax myself, well I just thought seeing the pupa would make me feel better.... And they did!
Well I woke up like an hour ago cause my tummy hurt. I feel totally better now so I'm hoping I can get some more good rest... Only 7 hrs till my appt!!!

How are you? You must be so excited for your next appt.
i think i will be repeating what somebody else said though believe me you ll never stop worrying from now onwards. You are a mommy and that s kind of our job isn t it. All babies are special gifts though after going through all that heart ache there will be that extra 'protective' thing all throughout your pregnancy and your little ones lives. It s just something that you have to accept. I don t mean to be at all negative. I always thought this feeling would go away when i hold Jeremy in my arms. I still checking that he s breathing when he s asleep and so on....sometimes i even wake him up lol.
Try to relax as much as you can and enjoy every minute ......i realy miss being pregnant nad at times feel i missed out so much of the nice bit of pregnancy just coz i was so scared.
Good luck for your appt toda i am sure that everything will be great. It s your turn my friend......you deserve this so much. The world could really do with more people like you.......so kind courageous and thoughful of others even when you had your own sorrow.
Big hugs and lots of love and kisses to your bean/ies.

Hi Kari!
I know I am the last person to post a big congratulations- but you'll see soon when you have your twins - that it is really hard to get to the computer some days! I am so happy for you that I can't even describe it. My heart is just swelling with happiness. I know how much you've been through and I finally feel like you've been rewarded. I just want to cry because I know how it feels and I am thrilled for you. This is the best news! I can't even put into words how excited I am for you! I am sure today's beta will be huge again and everything will just start falling in to place. How wonderful! Get ready to begin the next phase of your life mommy!

Oh CBB, thank you!!! I can only imagine (at least for the time being ;)) how busy you must be with your little boy and girl at home! Thank you SO much for stopping in. I know you are familiar with my journey... Remember a bit over a year ago when your were president of the spring IVF club??? :) And look at you now with your twins in your arms and me finally with a convincing BFP! Please give your little ones some love for me... Hope Molly is letting you get a bit of sleep these days!!! :)
Amy, my good friend an ocean away... Thank you for the reassurance that I am not crazy! :) And if worrying is a mommy's job then you can just nominate me now for mommy of the year!!!! Hahaha... I'm sure any IF sister blessed with pregnancy could get that award. Please give Jeremy a kiss for me!
Well I woke again with stomach pains... They were the bad crampy kind that accompanied a BM. They are scary as all get out cause they feel like terrible menstrual cramps and that is not cool during early pregnancy. At least this time I didnt wake DH telling him to take me to the hospital. ;) Well I'm gonna see if I can find away to squeeze in at least another hour of sleep... I'm gonna look like a walking zombie in the RE office this morning that's for sure!

Kari, I hope you managed to get a little more sleep before beta. I think your appt is about an hour & a half away. I am so excited for you!!! I just know after your numbers double today, you will be so relieved!!! Of course, the worrying will never really stop, but you will be on cloud 9 all weekend!!!! I can't wait until we find out how many are in there. :D:D:D
Thinking of you & your little baby(ies)!!!!

Hi Kare-bear!! I was happy that you're feelign better because I think that means the OHSS is going away...but I'm also glad you're feeling yucky again because I know it makes you feel better! LOL, oh how sane we sound ;) HOnestly, it's like a language only IF sisters (and the few, the proud IF brothers here :)) can understand. I am SO praying for great news at today's beta, honestly, I know it will be wonderful!!! It's going to double or even triple!! :D And then you can sail into yoru weekend!! when do you plan on telling people?

Hi Kari, just checking in to see if you have posted! Hope you are celebrating. I will check back as often as I can. I read your last post and I beleive those bad cramps you were getting are normal. I know it is scary at the moment when it is happening. Just those wonderful Preganacy symptoms you and the rest of us are longing for. Have a wonderful weekend if I don't get back here. One of the computers at home crashed so I may not get much time on line this weekend. Plus I am spring cleaning the house gearing up for my round of IVF and BFP!

Hang in there sweetie!!! Did they do any other labs today. . I know I have had some that they need to ask the doc for info on before they call. I am sure its a great number, anything could be holding this up!!!!!
Comforting and calming hugs......

Take heart kari!! As april so wisely said----its the Friday before a long weekend---they must be extra rushed and tying up things. Remember that you had a VERY strong, high beta number last beta, so there is no reason why this one isn't just as strong and positive and doubling even tripling! I will have to go...abut five minutes ago... but I will check back later from my mom's laptop!! I love you girlie! hang tight, okay???

Kari dear, hang in there, those first numbers were so huge and healthy, dont worry a bit about anything bad. Think positive and you gotta get ready for nursery decorations. You will need more than one room. :)
My RE office today was pretty busy, being that they want to close tomorrow and monday, so they had alot of procedures scheduled, I'm sure thats all there is with your office also.
Love,

Kari, sweetie hang in there, I am sure its because of the Holiday, the lab that I go to was actually closed today and Monday so it could definately be a slow-down because of the weekend. Your beta will be just fine:angel:AimeeM
I would even call your RE to get some peace of mind.....thats one thing I have learned in this pregnancy its much better to ask question ect. than to worry.
