My 3 yr old granddaughter has about 3 of these red patches. Her dad & mom think it's ringworm, but it's solid-like a cirlce or oval, not ring shaped with nothing in the middle. I've looked online but can't seem to find anything that looks like it. One is just under her chin, the other it smaller and on her elbow, and the largest one is on her side just below her waist. ANy ideas?

are the ovals raised, or are they just red? My daughter had ringworm, and some were oval, but they were raised with nothing in the middle.

they seem to be fairly flat. They've putting Lotrimen (sp?) on them and it seems to be helping, but very slowly. They seem to fade and crust over as they heal.

Sounds like ringworm. My daughters did that as they healed.

HI

As a preschool teacher I have seen a few cases of ringworm. They do not have to be a ring but are circular in shape. This is contagious and the child can spread it on their own body by touching it. I am not sure the remedy. The last kid I knew that had it had a round patch on his face that didn't even look that bad. My assistant said she thought it was ringworm and sure enough the doc said it was though I forget what the treatment is. ringworm can be present in the scalp and hair will fall out in the spot.

THanks for the info. She is getting better and no new places have shown up.
