I just had a hormone panel done. I will pick it up in a day. But the docs asst. said my estrogen was nil--it didn't register on the test. And, my FSH was high. She said the pcp said this is to be expected in post meno woman. I am 6 yrs. into post meno and considering HRT. I have severe osteoporosis and am being treated for that and the bone spec. said consider HRT. Which I am doing. Will see gyn in a few weeks. PCP scripted vivelle dot on for 3 months then 10 days prometrium. I will see what the gyn says.
Anyway non existent estrogen , what do you folks think about that? Anyone else come out with zero estrogen before HRT?

I'm still in peri, but I am pretty sure I've seen past posts here, where others have mentioned non-existant estrogen levels. If you go to the top right of the main page and do a search for "low estrogen levels" or "no estrogen", you might be able to find some of them.
Best of luck and hang in there. I think HRT is such a personal, case by case thing. I know already, because of history, and a long conversation with my GYN, that HRT is not an option for me, but there are many who swear by it.

hi osteoblast
I too have virtually no estrogen and I have been on HRT both the traditional and the bio identical ones in the past, it did improve my bone density according to the dexa scans by 3% so it does help but the side effects from HRT drove me crazy and I discontinued it. research HRT well before you decide

I too have no estrogen from my hyster. Im also unable to tolerate any of the estrogens, both natural and synthetic. If you can tolerate them, great..

Myth-what was the trouble that you had tolerating hrt?
Also-same question for Rachelle.
I have now been on hrt, actually just the estrogen part of it for about 5 wks. I was on the vivelle patch .05 and that was moved up to .075 about 2 wks. ago. I really have no negatives to say for now. Possibly the progesterone part will be the problem.

with the synthetic HRT which consisted of estradial & progesterone I had fluid retention , sore breasts, irritability & extremely hot hands
with the bio identical HRT which included estrogen & progesterone with DHEA I had acne & hair growth
follow up tests which I insisted upon showed that my body was taking the estrogen & turning it into bad estrogens & my DHEA levels plummeted, and testosterone levels went abnormally high
obviously my body did not like HRT but thats not to say that everyone reacts to it like I did
however I think it wise to test regularly to monitor what your body does with HRT
