View Full Version : Voice Still High as a Kite...

Okay, so I'm turning 17 in a few weeks. But the problem is, I still have a high-pitched, nerdy white guy voice, and I HATE it. When I get excited, it gets even higher. Some people have commented on it, which makes me incredibly self-conscious. I know I'd be a lot less shy if I had a deeper voice to assert myself with.

I'm also a bit confused - my voice has never once cracked in my life, and that's perhaps why it hasn't dropped yet. Is there still a chance it might get lower, or am I pretty much stuck with how it is? I also noticed, and this is kind of stupid, that my Adam's Apple is much higher up in my throat (and oftentimes is nearly invisible) than most of my peers, who have a much more prominent one which rarely moves above the center of their throats. I know that the lower the Adam's Apple, the lower the voice, so is there any way I can sort of "help" it drop, or is there any way at all to make my voice lower?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Have you developed normally in every other way thru puberty? For example, pubic hair, penis size, facial hair, libido, etc...? I ask this because it is the testosterone that causes the deepening voice I believe.

I think so... Yes to pubes and libido, penis is probably a bit smaller than average, and the only facial hair I can grow is this crazy little Mexican mustache. So is lack of testosterone the problem you think, or could it be something else?

In my research on low testosterone, I have read about "delayed puberty". You can experience the issues you are talking about due to this form of hypogonadism. If this has something to do with it then puberty can still happen later. You would need a physical examination of your testicles and penis to determine this along with bloodwork to determine if your levels of testosterone are low for you age. But please, I am new to the world of low testosterone (still waiting on bloodwork to determine why) and others here, such as hayfarmer, may be better equipped to answer these questions.
