A few days ago I fell during while playing basketball on my left side. I didn't feel any pain. I kept playing, no problems and I stopped after like 15 minutes. I sat for about 90 minutes then went home. Then about 30 minutes after I went home, I noticed pain on the side of my hip (greater trochanter) where I fell. Nothing bad, kind of like a bruise only there is no bruising. Ok, so now it is like 2 days later and it is tender to pressure and I feel uncomfortable when I walk and so on. I can still run, jump, stand on one leg, had I been flexible enough do some kicks, etc... I have full range of motion with little pain going forward (raising my knee). Slightly less than full range of motion going sideways, and there was never any range of motion going back, but I feel some pain when I do that.

None of the pain is sharp, but I am not sure if this can be a bone break or not. No health insurance, so not ready to spend thousands of $$$ if it is just pain that will go away in a couple of weeks. Just a little afraid cause a friend took a fall and had to have screws put in his leg. He was limping though after the fall.

Any ideas as to what my case is?

Thanks

I have fallen on ice before and experienced in my hip what you are going through. Deep muscle bruising will not show on the surface. I was also able to do range of motion though a bit uncomfortable. Mine took about a week to go completely away. If you are worried, though, go get an x-ray done to be sure.
