Here's some information ya'll may find helpful regarding Panavir - a Russian drug used as treatment for herpes. I emailed the company that manufactures this product several times and they replied. Personally, I don't consider this good or bad news, just news. To make it comprehendable, start reading from the bottom of the post on up.

Dear *****,

This is the reply for your questions:

1) Yes, that is correct. Panavir is a unique unprecedented product but is used only for treatment in case of herpes.

2) You have understood properly. As it was mentioned before each repeated course of treatment taken at the outbreak enhances the period of remission considerably and perhaps complete suppression will be achieved.

3) ?????

4) No. That is not possible because we cannot meet the requirements demanded to registration of a drug in Europe and US.
The drug will be available in the countries where it can be registered and permited for use.

We can suggest you:

1) If you have benign symptoms and that is not bother you a lot you may keep on taking Famvir since it helps you well.

2) Otherwise you should go to Russia being the case and pass a course of treatment in one of our clinics.

We are always pleased to help you.

Our sincere regards,

----- Original Message ---- -

Dear ***** *****:

Thank you very much for your detailed reply. I am grateful for the attention you have given me.

If you don't mind, I have several more questions for you.

1) Based on your email below, it sounds as if Panavir is a very good product to consider as a treatment but is not considered "cure", is that correct?

2) Although I have been diagnosed recently, it appears that my exposure was at least 10 years ago and possibly more like 16. It seems that the virus has been dormant in my system for all of these years and suddenly I started experiencing minor outbreaks about 3 years ago. My symptoms are not as severe as apparently it is with others afflicted with this virus. I seem to react well to Famvir for episodic treatment (outbreak period lasts for 1-2 days as opposed to 5-7 days without medication). Thus far suppressive treatment has not helped me but it has only been 6 weeks. My goal, like anyone else afflicted with this, is to keep this virus suppressed (and ultimately cured but that may be wishful thinking). Based on the last few lines of your message to me, it sounds like after repeated use of your product, suppression is ultimately achieved even though it sounds like the virus is not eradicated. Am I understanding this properly?

3) Since I am in the United States and realize that I may have some problems if I were to consider treatment with your product. Specifically, it sounds like this product is to be administered during a period of recurrence That being the case, I would not be able to fly over for treatment at a moments notice for obvious reasons. I am very new to this so I do not know if it would be possible for me to fly over, purchase your products and then fly back with your products and use them here during a recurrence. Please let me know if this is possible or not (or if you even know).

4) Finally, are you expecting to have your product available in the United States or Europe one day soon? If so, I would love to know your approximate schedule.

I would appreciate you answering my four main questions. Also, thank you very much for your efforts to finding a cure for this disease. I personally am truly grateful.

With sincere regards,

***** *****

Dear Mr *****,

Panavir is an antiviral product which is used as a treatment for diseases caused by DNA and RNA viral infections. The drug has a profound antiviral effect on some viral contagions such as adenovirus, grippe, herpes virus of I and II types, cytomegalovirus, hydrophobia virus, mite-borne encephalitis virus, hepatitis C. It is shown that the drug is low-toxic and has no teratogenic effect.
Of course, Panavir is used only to treat genital herpes, but it has some advantages over acyclovir-containing medications (as Famvir and Valtrex). First, all clinical studies of the drug mark the absence of any side-effects during the treatment while the drug's effectiveness is not less than acyclovir-containing medications. Second, Panavir helps in severe chronic cases when any other drugs have no effect. The fact is that acyclovir-containing drugs are too good. They inhibit virus replication so subtly and when a virus slightly changes (considering that herpes viruses are very mutative) replication blocking stops to work. So that in this meaning Panavir is universal. It inhibits virus replication in a cell indipendent what virus is it (herpes, cytomegalovirus, human papilloma virus, grippe, hepatitis viruses, mite-borne encephalitis virus, human immunodeficiency virus etc.) and haw these viruses mutate in an organizm. At the same time the medication increases viability of infected cells and protect healthy cells from virus attack.
We have also a data that Panavir is successfully fights against all intracellular parasites.
At the present the drug is patented and recommended by the Health Ministry of the RF as a treatment of chronic genital herpes and tick-borne encephalitis.
The effectiveness of the drug in a treatment of genital herpes is 70% of cases observed. The drug is administered intravenously during a relapse. The course of treatment is determined by severity degree of the disease and its recurrence rate. Normally 2 injections on a dose of 5 ml (1 ampoule) given with an interval of 48 hours is sufficient to have relapse disappeared. Simultaneously to relieve painful senses and facilitate scabs forming process it is recommended to apply gel Panavir locally. The disappearance of external presenses of herpes is observed 24-48 hours after the first injection. Application of the gel provide antiphlogistic, anaesthetic, wound healing action.
At recurrent form of the disease every following course enlarges a period between relapses at least twice.
The cost of one ampoule is 30 US$. You are always welcom and we will do our best to help you here. If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

With our best regards,

The reports on clinical trials carried out in a number of leading scientific-research institutes of Russia will be placed on [website removed] which is now under the development.

Dear Sir/Ma'am:

Do you consider your product to be a cure for genital herpes or simply an antiviral product to be used as a treatment for episodes as Famvir and Valtrex is used? I live in the United States but would be interested and willing to travel to your country for treatment dependent on how successful your product is so any data you have to offer would be appreciated.

Thank you -

I don't know if you are aware of this but you must be invited by someone in Russia and in order to obtain a visa.
