Im 14 years old and about a half a year or a year ago I started to get a lot of acne. Anyway the thing is that both sides of my lips are really dark and theres a whole bunch of little bumps. They look exactly like the ones between my chin and lips. I know that this is most likely not herpes or anything but im just really curious. Because when i pop it yellow/white stuff comes out and they just multiply again and again. Its not very noticable but I hate it. And by the wat theyre very little.

If you have never had sexual contact of *any* kind (this includes touching/oral sex) then there is probably no reason to believe that this is herpes. Although on one can tell you what it is that you have. You have to go to a doctor and have a blood test for herpes. A lot of doctors are very ignorant about herpes, but if you insist on a blood test, they have to give you one. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
It's kind of funny how everyone is afraid of doctors and is just like, "Do I have this or that?" And the worrying is what really gives them the problem. Anyway, it's better to be safe. Good luck to you.

Hi C Sauce,
I'm not a doctor but I'll see if I can help. What you describe is more likely to be acne rather than herpes. **If** this is oral herpes (also known as cold sores or fever blisters...most of us have this by the time we're in our teens) then there's a slight chance you might be getting facial outbreaks (OBs) along with the acne. But what you describe sounds more like acne and acne is very common for someone your age.
You can take precautions by not kissing people when you have the symptoms (skin-to-skin contact with the outbreak area could put others at risk for getting it too). Also, be sure you wash your hands really well after touching the symptom areas before touching anywhere else on your body. Especially do not rub your eyes before washing your hands first.
If you're really concerned that these mouth bumps are more than just acne, get your doctor to do a swab culture test on a fresh batch of symptoms -- ideally within the first 24-48 hours of when they appear. However, please don't give yourself a hard time about it if you do have oral herpes, since most of us has it by the time we're in our teens. We usually get it when we're kids through non-sexual contact with family and friends. But do talk to your doc about it if it's really bothering you.
I hope that helps! Let us know how you make out with it, okay?
