Hi, this is my first post. I have had HSV-2 for 16 years... on my ARM! Weird huh? I can't seem to find anyone anywhere that doesn't have it anywhere other than mouth or genitals. I feel so alien.

I've read about Olive Leaf Extract and Oregano Oil and and am taking both right now... just a few days so far and I'm not sure whether it's working or not. Believe me though, I have a lot of patienece to try new things after this many years.

Anyway, to my point: I've read the benefits of the two herbs and it apparently is great for all skin conditions. My daughter recently got a bad case of eczema. Does anyone know if I can give her either of those herbs? She's 8. I'm afraid of side effects or the dosage being too high for a child. Poor kid can't wear shorts http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

This site is terrific and such a super support, thank you all for sharing.

Any feedback would be gratefully received!

Hi there,

welcome to the site!

Have you tried eliminating dairy from your daughter's diet? It has really worked for both my kids.

They still drink a little milk but are very aware and limit themselves.

I hope that the OOO and OLE help you!

Hi Dawn,

Welcome! Getting herpes outside the genitals or mouth doesn't happen often, but occasionally. You're one in a million! Dubious distinction perhaps. LOL

As for your daughter, I would suggest you consult a naturopath or herbalist about the dosage for her. If you don't know of one in your area (start by looking in the yellow pages, or asking at local health food stores), do a search for schools that might be able to advise you about finding one. In the meantime, The people who make H-Balm also make an essential oil product for eczema that's applied topically. Generally, herbal products are usually pretty mild in their effect but I understand you wanting to be cautious with your daughter. Let us know what you find out!

Hope that helps. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for your replies http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I've had the kids off milk for a few years now. Although we do eat cheese and ice cream sometimes. It cleared up ear infections instantly, as well as what the doctors called "pre-asthma"... haha, whatever that is. As far as naturopaths, I had a bad experience with one that has made me wary... I should just try someone new.

I got the cure in a cupboard book about oil of oregano and it states that the oil can be used topically. Hope it works for her!

So I'm starting day 4 of the Olive Leaf and Oregano Oil. I had an outbreak when I started it and it's clearing up in a different way than it ever has before. Normally I have a lot of pain associated with OBs. There is no pain now. And most strangely is that I'm usually tingly like as if another OB is going to happen for at least 10 days and there is none of that sensation.

My OBs come in twos, usually the second one is about 4-5 days after the first starts. In the last year I've had more OBs than in the 3 previous to that combined. What is THAT all about?

Anyway, I'm optimistic about this and will keep posting how the herbs are working for me.

Often increased stress levels can change a person's normal OB patterns. Other health issues can affect them too, especially any that stress the immune system. A stressed lifestyle can affect OBs, like lack of sleep, not enough rest, etc. Medications and supplements can sometimes bring on OBs too. I will break out instantly when I've tried taking a supplement called SAMe.
