hi everyone,
i would be so grateful if someone can relate to this.
for over a year now, i have had constant vulva itching, and the area around. i have been to doctor so many times. i was given oral med, cream, antibiotics etc, etc.
it is truly making me miserable. it gets so itchy that i end up scratching (i know, i know) then, the lesions crack and weep. mostly its like a watery odourless discharge, but alot of it. sorry about being graffic.
i am really worried as i have heard alot about vulva cancer, although im only 28, but it seems to be more common now in younger woman.
the other thing is i have had genital herpes simplex2 in the past, (and btw, only ever had 1 sexual partner)
sorry that its a long post, but i dont know what else to do, any feedback would me magical.
thanks a million 4 reading

Cancer sounds pretty unlikely, especially if you've had the same symptoms for a year. If it was cancer, you'd have other problems by now.
You might want to talk to a vulvar specialist.
What have you been putting on it? Anything? What do you wash with? How well is your herpes controlled?

I have lichen sclerosis of the vulva. Treated with steroid ointment. My symptoms were are very similiar to what you describe. My gynocologist is the one who diagnosed it. It is much worse when I am under stress. I hope this helps you.

:)thank you very much for replies. how long did you have symptoms for before you were diagnosed??
i have used mostly everything for a vaginal itch that is on the market. my doctor has tried me on steroid cream and oral medication. nothing is working.
i know cancer is highly unlikely, bu reading up on it, it can take a while for it to progress. i have one cancer scare already,(ovarian). so i am a little paranoid. as for the herpes, i have not had an outbreak in 5 years, but unfortunately its a lifetime condition.i have a gynecology appointment in 2 weeks, i hope i mite get treatment that works, or at least a name for it.
thanks again for your help. any other feedback in the meantime is appreciated!!!

You might want to talk to your gyno about Lichen Sclerosis. It is usually a whitish lesion with lots of itching. Unfortunatley, a biopsy is the only way to verify but I'll tell you if Lichen is what you have the steroid ointment that you take will give you relief in a couple of days or so at least that is what happened to me. Good luck to you and stop scratching :)

thanks for your reply. biopsy doesn't sound too good, but if it helps then it has to be done. I've had a colposcopy before because i had an abnormal pap smear, so i guess its just the same???:)
i just want the itching to stop, its driving me mad, and is so frustrating. my husband has been great, but i feel bad as we cant have much intimacy as im red raw:mad:, lol
thanks so much for giving info, keep you posted
