What do most people symptoms look like?
I always seem to hear that the "classic" symptoms
rarely occur......what are other complications have you guys had with outbreaks?

The "classic" symptoms are the fluid-filled blisters that may be accompanied by swelling, itching, tingling or burning. But some people have reported symptoms that look like a simple rash, tiny cut-like breaks in the skin, or even just reddening of the skin, bumps or an itchy patch of skin. Any kind of sore or skin irritation in a suspect area might be cause for concern.
There may be flu-like symptoms, including swollen lymph nodes near the infected area (groin for genital herpes, neck for oral herpes). There may be painful urination or discharge. Some people get sensory symptoms only (not visual), like itching, tingling, burning, pain, etc.
Most of this info I got from ASHA (Amer. Social Health Assn.), which has a good info site about herpes.
Hope that helps.

Well, it's real hard for me to tell what the heck is going on at any given time due to all the symptoms. I just said the other day that I wished I had the 'classic' symptoms so I could tell what's happening.
I had my first OB in April of this year and had a pretty mild time of it. I thought I was lucky, but afterwards, the problems really started and, until I started mega acyclovir, I was having big trouble every day.
Mostly persistent hip pain, bad pains in legs and pubic area (stabbing) tingling and worst of all, episodes of MAJOR pressure and pain that would keep me awake at night.
One of the odd symptoms I have noticed is persistent red and burning eyes ('sick' eyes) but the acyclovir has fixed that.
I still have daily symptoms and am having an OB now, even with the meds, but at least I feel somewhat 'normal' most of the time.
My husband who shared this with me, has rare OBs and has trouble understanding my problems.

Wow Mutz, even with all those symptoms I'm glad you've found some relief from the problems you were having. I remember you were having an awful time for a while. I'm sorry your hubby isn't more sympathetic or understanding. That's very weird about the eyes.

I got herpes a month ago (yes, I am new to the club!)
and I had pink itchy eyes in the beggining.
