Hi guys. Okay so I just ran out of the needles that came with my most recent purchase of PIO shots. I have like a gazillion extra needles in my cabinet, but I didn't make note of the size of the needle that I actually do the injection with. I know I use the pink wrapped 18G 1 1/2 to draw up the liquid. What do you guys use to inject with? Is it a 22G 1 1/2???

Hope that made sense... I'll could just call my RE office, but it was kinda a goal of mine to leave them alone this week since I was so high maintenance last week :D

Kary, you take the shot with the 22 G 1 1/2 , the gray one.
The pink you are right, is to draw out, or for horses :D

Mady

Thanks Mady... I thought that was the case, but when I looked at the needle on the 22G 1 1/2 it looked longer and skinnier than I realized. Guess I never really tried to look at it since DH was the one who did the shot!

Mady's got the right one for injecting, Kari! But my RE never gave me another size for drawing the liquid up. I wish they had because it's nearly impossible to draw it into the smaller needle!!! Hope those shots are going okay for you! - April

Hi April!!! Wow, that is shocking you didn't get the thick needle for drawing up! That must be quite the task every nite preparing your PIO shot without it!!! You haven't started PIO yet for this cycle, right? Maybe you can request the 18G this time to help out!!! Good luck either way... it's a nasty little shot!

No problemo Kari, glad I could help.
April, you can buy them 18's from the pharmacy. My nurse said that if you draw with 18 G it doesnt make bubles, so it will hurt less at shot time.
You just have to call the pharmacy ahead of time so they can order it for you. It takes 1 day to get them in, normally they dont carry this big gage. Make sure they are the Luer kind, so they fit with the gray needle.
Good luck,
Mady

Thanks for the suggestions. I may have to do that...because it actually takes a lot of strength to get that stuff in the small needle! Just one less thing to worry about! - April
