View Full Version : Pedal exercisers

Hello everybody. I'm new here and would like some advice.

10 years ago I had a very nasty accident to my left leg caused by a fall. I broke all the bones in my leg and my kneecap had to be rebuilt. I'm ok now, though obviously I can't do the things I used to do. I hardly get any pain in my leg but I do find every few days it feels very tight. I already have a normal exercise bike in my spare room and I find if I jump on that for 10 minutes my leg feels much better.

I was thinking about buying a portable pedal exercise bike so I can use it while watching tv and playing my beloved video games. I have already lost 3 stone to ease the weight on my leg but my thighs are very flabby. I thought perhaps a pedal exerciser might tone them up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As long as the doctor who treated your leg thought that biking was ok, then it's a great idea. The stronger the muscles are, the less pain you will have, and the better your knee will hold up.

And, of course, toned legs are so much nicer looking, especially now that we're getting into summer.:)

You may benefit from exercising your legs at least a little bit every day, to prevent the muscles from tightening too much.

Thanks for your reply.

When I was discharged from hospital about 3 years after my accident my doctor did say that biking was by far the best exercise for my leg thats why I bought my big bike, and it definately does help.

Anyway, I'm now going to order one and use it every day.;)
