I've done alot of Google research lately, and alot of my questions turned up with threads and discussions which had happened here. I thought I'd post my situation just for the sake of peace of mind.
To start, I am a 24 year uncircumcised male. Through most of my teenage and childhood years I would occasionally retract my foreskin while in the shower for cleaning, but for the most part I left it alone. I had never felt any pain associated with the area.
Recently I began to feel a slight stinging in the area, often if I had an erection but did not have sex or masturbate. I decided to do some inspection, and upon checking beneath my foreskin, which retracts more easily every day, it simply looked like the area needed to be cleaned. This was a month ago, and since then I've been thoroughly cleaning daily, always with warm water and a q-tip. The area is extremely sensitive, so anything more has been a little too much to bear just yet. I have noticed that my glans has become used to it enough that I can now expose it directly to a warm shower current without feeling the immense sensitivity I was used to, but the same current applied to the underside is still a little too much. I believe this is normal, as the lower regions are supposed to be more sensitive. There is no discoloration, discharge or abnormal swelling that I can tell.
Since I began this regimen, I've not had any of the aforementioned stinging. To further help things, I stopped drinking soda and eventually caffeine altogether for various health reasons. All seems to be well, but I notice something else unusual now.
My foreskin will still retract with minimal effort, but I now notice a white, sticky film often hinders this a little. It is worse when I have an erection. With a little extra force - not near enough to be painful - the skin goes on down. With a bit of rigorous attention in the shower I can clean all of these small collections of white away from my glans thanks to decreased sensitivity to water current, but this buildup always returns by the next day. In addition there is an odor which, while not outright cheesy, smells somewhat unpleasant. This odor is noticeably stronger if I retract my foreskin while erect.
My question is, does this sound like something fungal or perhaps even an infection? Naturally I understand that I should speak with a doctor if there's anything alarming, but because I'm feeling no pain I thought I'd come here for some input. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to reply!
