View Full Version : OHSS when not on meds

I've been off IF meds now for over a month and it seems like it's still lurking in my system. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to be out of the system? I was only on about 1200units of Follistim for 2 months.
Right before my O this month my ovaries seemed huge and tender, and now I'm about 2 dpo and my abdomen seems swelled with water or something. I've gained about 4# this past week! I'm not eatting horribly, I'm exercising, but I feel water logged all the time.
How much weight was gained with some of you and was it ever AFTER a medicated cycle?

What is going on? I can't even button up my "fat" pants!

Any input would be great! Thx

Hi Pinkie-

I was actually hospitalized with severe OHSS. It was after the meds, but I was also pg. with twins!! (That was why I had it.) I gained 9 inches around my waist and about 17 lbs. I would say that it is possible that your ovaries just haven't gotten back to normal and when you O they get a little larger on their own! As for your stomach, the best thing to do is drink lots of gatorade (or something with electrolytes) and eat lots of protein. That will help get rid of the fluid. Water is actually hard for your body to absorb during this time, so drink some, but not a lot.

I hope this helps!

Hi Pinkie! Wow, that sounds so uncomfortable! I think that Teach did really well answering your questions. You've been off for 2 months now, hmm, I think that the residual effects may hae worn of a couple of weeks ago, but then everyone is different. And maybe you had a lot of follies on your own. :) I'm hoping you feel a lot more comfortable really soon!

BTW, it looks liek we're on teh same track again...I think I"m 1dpo today :)
